Its the biggest payday exeter have ever had. They have sold players to top teams previously such as vinnicombe to rangers some 15 years plus ago for 250k or what ever it was, ampadu to Chelsea, but nothing quite like this.

It will keep exeter solvent for 2 years on its own. The training ground can be updated and improved upon bearing in mind the amount of use from all the junior exeter teams also use it and it can also get better security to stop the travellers from trying to invade it each year as they do to the pub car park over the road.

With no other funding as no crowds, sponsorship down to minimal and shirt/ club souvenir sales not huge, it keeps them healthy.

Everyone liked that. 😊

Do you think Brentford might offer us a decent discount on Benrahma now? Had to laugh when someone on the Brentford site suggested they name their new ground "The Aston Villa Stadium" as we had pretty much paid for it! :D

Joking aside, I think if we were after benrahma then it would have been a joint purchase so Brentford could minimise the resale fee to Exeter. It would have been structured that watkins would be less than we paid and benrahma would be slightly more than they would have accepted.

Agreed with this. Think it shows Benrahma is not in the works.

This is so exciting to watch! A genuine poacher type who reads the play well, positions himself well and can finish one touch from all sorts of positions. 26 goals without penalties is spectacular at Championship level.

We'd have paid this much for Tammy last year if Chelsea didn't have the transfer ban, and I see this as just as good a signing.

Absolutely thrilled. Most exciting signing since what, Carew?

unless watkins and benrahma have the same agent that just wouldn't happen, for the same reason why player+cash deals dont happen. all agents need their slice, and the agent of watkins wouldn't agree to a lesser fee because he would receive a lesser % of the deal. same as watkins himself, he gets a % of the deal. so a 'double transfer' just would never be on the cards.

Its would make zero difference to agents, they get their fee no matter what the deal is. Each deal will not be based on a % of the sale fee, it will be negotiated between the player the buying club and possibly other interested parties. Some may have a % of the sale fee but I would bet the majority are not. Other wise whats the point having an agent if you are a free transfer? No fee for the player so the agent would get no fee.
