  1. Mitchell Clark

New thread for Mitchell Clark who made his debut for us tonight against Wigan.
  2. Jake Doyle-Hayes

Not seen a thread for the kid. Impressive debut tonight.
  3. Robert Snodgrass

There have been plenty of rumours about us trying to get Robert Snodgrass on loan from West Ham. Here's an article in the Birmingham Mail about it...
  4. Josh Onomah

Josh Onomah has joined us on loan for the season! A young Spurs player who has been referred to as the best of the current generation of the Spurs academy, it is somewhat surprising he's actually being allowed to go out on loan, let alone to the Championship. It's likely we'll see him coming in to replace Grealish in the squad as the most attacking midfielder, however he has also played out wide for Spurs and often gets referred to as a box-to-box midfielder and has been compared favourably to Moussa Dembele by fans. Here's hoping it works out! www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/tottenham-transfer-news-josh-onomah-aston-villa-loan-mauricio-pochettino-loan-deal-a7876226.html
  5. Glenn Whelan

Don't all start this player thread at once! Ah bugger, spelt it wrong in the title...
  6. Ahmed Elmohamady

Looks set to be our next signing according to numerous news outlets. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-set-complete-third-13345527
  7. Joe Hart

Right... well, I think we all agree the chances are somewhere between slim and none, and the three types of hope we have are Cape Hope, Bob Hope and no hope, but he is probably worth a thread for speculation now that it's been reported that we have made an approach. This Birmingham Mail article is about our loan approaches for Joe Hart and Sam Johnstone... Birmingham Mail
  8. John Terry

Isn't it about time he had a thread? Things seem to be moving in the right direction - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/06/21/aston-villa-make-concrete-offer-john-terry/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw
  9. Cheick Tioté RIP

It's been reported that former Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tioté has died of a heart attack aged 31, during a training session with his club side in Beijing. Tragic news, especially for such a young guy. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/cheick-tiote-dead-dies-died-newcastle-united-beijing-enterprises-heart-attack-cause-of-death-a7773986.html
  10. Jordan Cox

http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/attacker-confirms-aston-villa-deal-on-social-media/ Have no clue about him, but found on newsnow.
  11. Chris Samba

John Percy saying Chris Samba training with us as he is a free agent have we really got that desperate? Former Blackburn and QPR defender Chris Samba, now a free agent, is training with #avfc
  12. Kelsey Mooney

U18s striker Kelsey Mooney has put pen to paper on his first professional contract until June 2019. I've seen him quite a few times for the U18s and he's an old fashioned style striker in that he's tall and puts himself about. He has no little skill to go with it though and is a good finisher, I don't know if he's Tommy Mooney's son or not, there's an article on the OS
  13. Scott Hogan

Surely needs his own thread now as being reported everywhere and on yellow bar on Sunday. I would assume the 10m we are getting from Westwood and ayew deals are what is funding this deal?
  14. Neil Taylor

As this one seems very close I thought he deserved his own thread. I think he is a very useful player and has always looked solid for Wales. Does this mean Amavi is off? I'd be happy with this signing as he has Premier league quality should a miracle happen and we were to go up. Definitely a player who could help us push for the play offs. Pleased if this goes ahead.
  15. There are quite a few players we think are rubbish, but how about the good ones? Not necessarily Gardwood, Cristiano Ronaldo, Agüero or Messi, just the ones the scout in you would recommend (preferably in lower and foreign leagues). I'll start with Bernardo Silva. He's not big, he's not fast but he is special.
  16. Jacob Bedeau

Tony following him on Twitter, he's a villain now....
  17. Birkir Bjarnason

This news has beaten all the press it would seem. As the rules stipulate to open a new player thread you must provide a link to the speculation source, I have had to link an old article from the Brum Mail in the Summer. It speculates where Villa could pick up an Icelandic star. Welcome Birkir (fingers crossed Villa Transfers Twitter account is on the money again) https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/heres-aston-villa-could-pick-11534357.amp?client=ms-android-samsung
  18. James Bree

Well the good doctor has gone and followed James Bree on Twitter. Strongest indication yet that he will be a Villa player before the end of January. Fingers crossed, looks a top prospect in a weak position in our team. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-james-12490988 Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has done it again. The popular Chinese businessman has sent Villa supporters into a frenzy after following Barnsley defender James Bree on Twitter.
  19. Conor Hourihane

S*n report Thought him worth his own thread at this point. As a side note, every player I have started a thread for has signed, eventually!
  20. Henri Lansbury

Express & Star are reporting that Bruce has confirmed our interest in Lansbury, so I figured a speculation thread is in order. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/aston-villa-fc/2017/01/05/january-transfer-window-steve-bruce-confirms-aston-villa-approach-for-henri-lansbury/
  21. Harry McKirdy

Did a search but couldn't find a thread for this lad. Went on loan to Stevenage in August and has had a bad couple of months with Injuries but last few games been coming off the bench. Scored a cracker on his full Stevenage debut
  22. Gareth Barry

Everton’s midfield stalwart Gareth Barry will be celebrating a personal milestone when he starts Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough. The match will mark his 600th Premier League appearance, and third overall in the all-time list. Fellow midfielder Frank Lampard has 609, and winger Ryan Giggs is at 632. He probably already has a thread somewhere, but sorry guys I couldn't find it. Many many congratulations Gareth, pleasure watching you play in our shirt! Wish he was still with us to be honest. Top professional.
  23. Albert Adomah

    Well, every time I've started a thread about a player this summer within 12 hours they have signed so, welcome Albert Adomah? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/08/30/gb-aston-villa-move-for-albert-adomah-back-on/ Quick, strong, six million quid, can't go wrong? As was noted in the speculation thread he has played in over 40 games in his last 6 seasons, all at this level. He's 28 years old and has 24 goals and 15 assists in his last 130 games for Boro and has a handy 7.06 rating on WhoScored - https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35328/History/Albert-Adomah Historical Participations Summary Defensive Offensive Passing Detailed View: Overall Home Away Season Team Tournament Apps Mins Goals Assists Yel Red SpG PS% AerialsWon MotM Rating 2016/2017 Middlesbrough Premier League 1(1) 121 - - - - 2 75 - - 6.27 2015/2016 Middlesbrough EC 36(7) 3234 6 5 1 - 1.9 77.7 0.7 6 7.20 2014/2015 Middlesbrough EC 43(3) 3744 6 4 8 1 1.6 72.8 0.7 2 7.02 2013/2014 Middlesbrough EC 38(4) 3433 12 6 2 - 1.6 74.3 0.5 2 7.00 2014 Ghana WC 0(1) 12 - - - - - 71.4 - - 6.45 Total / Average 134 10544 24 15 11 1 1.7 74.9 0.6 10 7.06 Obligatory YouTube clip - Thoughts?
  24. Jonathan Kodjia

So... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37220214 Yes from me based on the very little I have seen and the few bits I have heard. Pacey, strong, scores goals. 19 Championship goals last season. Get him in and be done with it!
