He’s always been a good player, there’s a reason the great Arsene Wenger signed him for Arsenal from Southampton, he could always spot a player. Chambers has had a lot of injuries in his career but he’s always had the talent. He was hugely rated as a youngster and then spent 8 years being pushed around on loan or as a utility player. Looks another huge asset for the club for the years to come. Which is strange, because he’s arguably outperformed anyone playing in that position on several occasions. It’s almost an awkward discussion to be having but…is he better than Mings? Should he be starting alongside Carlos? He gelled really well with Mings in the games he started last season.....then got dropped as soon as Konsa got fit/came back from suspension. I think his role this season will be first in if one of Mings/Diego is out e.g if Mings is suspended I think Diego will shift to left side and Chambers will come in rather than Hause starting (if he's still here). Can also see Chambers filling in at RB and DM when required given he did a solid job when playing there up at Burnley when we re-jig things. I never rated him at Arsenal but he's massively proved me wrong, been pretty good in all his starts for us so far and defensive stats reflected this so that's what an excellent squad player looks like.
