In short: he’s the best player in the Belgian league right now and a monster in midfield. He’s THE reason why Club Brugge are miles ahead of the other teams in the league this season and I’ll tell you why. For more than a decade Brugge have been searching for a defensive mid, they tried a lot of players but it never worked out (sounds familiar doesn’t it?) but now they finally found one. Club Brugge’s system is a 3-5-2/5-3-2 (depends on how you look at it I guess) with 2 fullbacks and 3 central players in midfield. So he’s playing as a defensive mid in a three man midfield, Ruud Vormer and Hans Vanaken being the other two. Those two are a great duo (in the Belgian league anyway) and are playing a great season and Nakamba plays a huge part in that, he cleans everything up and gives them the freedom to excel. And when I say everything I mean literally everything. And the great thing about Nakamba is that after he cleans up he plays the ball forward, I like that a lot. He also presses like a madman and just keeps running, great mentality. Very usefull when Brugge doesn't have the ball, very calm when they do have the ball. Always looking ahead. Honestly I haven’t seen a defensive mid like him in the Belgian league since I started watching 15/20 years ago. I know, it’s only the Belgian league, but still… every once in a while we have great players who stick out and are way too good for our league and if you know a thing or two about football you notice them right away. Nakamba is one of them. The big question for you guys is if he’s good enough for the PL and especially Liverpool? Well, since Brugge didn’t qualify for European football I’ve only seen him play in the qualifiers when Brugge were just getting started with a new manager and Nakamba was new in the team so you can’t really judge that. So I haven’t really seen him play at a higher level than the Belgian league but he sure has the potential. He was never the best player in the league. He was very good and did a great job as DM, it is true he is good at closing down opposition, breaking up play and ball recovery. useless Posted July 25, 2019 Share Posted July 25, 2019 I think we'd give Lansbury away for free, providing that whoever took him agreed to take on his wages. Was surprised to see that he's still contracted to the club until 2021, he's already been here almost three years. A year or so back I was very impressed with what I saw of Doyle-Hayes, and thought he might overtake a few in our squad, but not sure what's happening with him now.
