  1. 5 in 11 to start the season. 5 in 33 to finish the season. Last Premier League goal? 5th November. The worst run of form in his career. His career is baring striking similarities to how Vassell's went. Every season we would say "this season he will get 15-20 goals" and it never came and it isn't coming for Gabby either. The stats are upsetting, the performances have been frightening. I imagine a lot of you, like me, see him as your favourite player in the squad which makes it all the more distressing seeing him play like this. How about this for another statistic... In his last 68 Premier League games he has scored 10 goals What next for our Gabs?
  2. After triple checking the correct spelling, I think our new Assistant Manager deserves his own thread. Steve Clarke should be a good appointment and has the right experience. Only time and VT opinions will tell. Currently, Clarke's appointment is pure speculation, even though the BBC states otherwise, thus - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36435484
  3. Would be a good addition to the side
  4. Interesting. According to http://m.leparisien.fr/sports/football/mercato-le-nantais-jordan-veretout-en-route-vers-aston-villa-27-07-2015-4973813.php He is on his way to AVFC ?!? After having secured the services of Jordan Ayew, the Birmingham club is about to engage the midfielder of 22 years of Nantes, Jordan Veretout How do I tag as "Speculation"
  5. Juan Pablo Angel...Juan pablo Montoya?? Are these fella's friends??? I would of thought they might be!!! I'm sure Montoya has a place here in the U.K!!! just a late night thought!! and a late thought, just thought i'd do a poll!!!
  6. Brad Friedel had another fumble against Brighton - i think we got rid at the right time, he's starting to lose it a bit, shame he needs the money.
  7. About time he has his own thread now,set to be announced as manager tomorrow. Welcome aboad Steve!
  8. Very excited about this player, he's 15 and plays centre midfield, he made his debut for u18s last season at the age of 14. He made his u16 debut at 12. He made his England u16 debut at 14 and has played for England u17 this season, I think he is superb
  9. A new thread to replace the over-reaction threads on both sides. There are a few of you who really need to read the posting guidelines before your posting privileges get revoked.
  10. confirmed as manager till 2018 As per BBC Radio 5 live
  11. Looks like he's gonna take over at Sunderland....hardly a move up. My question to you is, do you think MON will ever manage a bigger club than Aston Villa?

    Adama Traore

Sky Sports Transfer Centre have basically paraphrased this article: http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20150803/201097739785/adama-de-gira-por-inglaterra.html TRAORE IN TALKS WITH THREE PL CLUBS Barcelona starlet Adama Traore will visit the facilities of three Premier League clubs and negotiate with each of them this week, according to Mundo Deportivo. The teenager’s future has been subject to heavy speculation in recent weeks and it was reported on Monday that he has already travelled to Merseyside to undergo a medical with Liverpool. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the winger, who has been granted permission to miss Barca B training sessions this week, will use his time in England to visit the facilities of Liverpool, Stoke Cityand Aston Villa and hold talks with all three Premier League sides before deciding his next destination. Traore, who is under contract until 2018, has a €15m buyout clause. Barca would prefer to sell him rather than loan him out, although they would look to include a buyback clause into any transfer.
  13. Didn't see tonight- what happened with his injury? Gutted for the lad if he's ruled out a while just as he gets some first team minutes.
  14. There have been plenty of rumours about us trying to get Robert Snodgrass on loan from West Ham. Here's an article in the Birmingham Mail about it...

    Brad Guzan

So how does everyone feel about our American custodian? I believe the common consensus was that he was a highly promising keeper, ready to be our long-term number 1 for when Friedel retired/left. His performance in Prague in particular, was exemplary. However his stock came crashing down after that semi-final against Blackburn when his aerial ability nearly cost us a place at Wembley. Since then, he has hardly played, been out on loan and generally seen as nothing more than a reserve keeper. Baring in mind he will be 27 in a couple of months, are his days numbered here? Or does anyone actually believe that he could be our first choice keeper with more development? Its sad because that Carling Cup run made him then broke him.
  16. Any Aussie in or around the Premier League is big news down here. Jordan is no exception: Link here Good luck, mate!
  17. Starting tonight against Fulham. Never heard of him before myself but found a nice piece on him by the Birmingham Mail. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-portugal-lowdown-18-year-old-9636558
  18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25628806 Former Aston Villa, West Ham and Everton midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced he is gay. The 31-year-old, who won 52 caps for Germany, made the announcement in magazine Die Zeit. High-profile athletes from other sports have openly discussed their sexuality in recent years, with Olympic diver Tom Daley revealing in December he was in a relationship with a man. But Hitzlsperger is only the fourth footballer to do so publicly. In February 2013, former United States and Leeds United winger Robbie Rogers said he was gay. Swedish lower league player Anton Hysen, son of former Liverpool player Glenn Hysen, publicly announced his homosexuality in an interview with a Swedish football magazine in 2011. More to follow.
  19. Tony following him on Twitter, he's a villain now....
  20. VILLA AGREE GUEYE FEE Aston Villa have agreed a £9m fee with Lille for midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, according to Sky sources. The Senegal international is due to arrive in the west Midlands on Thursday to discuss personal terms.
  21. http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/kozak-allaston-villa-accordo-con-la-lazio/ Believed to be a loan deal according to the reporter who wrote the artcle above. 24 years old, Libor is a big, strong striker in the Benteke mould, top scorer in the Europa League last season with 10 goals in 11 games. Update: A few Lazio fans believe it is a permanent deal.
  22. Surprised a thread hasn't been started for him tbh. Yesterday in the second half he looked solid, got forward a lot and had some neat touches in midfield. Stood out for me above anyone else.
