All the criticism he gets, I hardly ever see him get a decent ball near the box. It is because he Is 20 yards behind play
KenjiOgiwara
I can't be the only one laughing at how bad he is at challenging for the ball? He has absolutely NO IDEA how to position himself, use his strength or time a leap. He is so **** bad at this it's unreal. And like most of our players he is absolutely void of urgency.
Digavilla
The last time he scored against Everton , Jota create few chances for him. None of our current players seemed capable of doing these, only drilling low hard ball from wing or lazy floaty crosses .. it’s gonna be uphill for him to come good . lexicon
Needs the midfield to actually do something, so he doesn't have to drop back and do the link up play himself. Utterly ridiculous to criticize him when the middle third of the pitch has McGinn and Lansbury strolling around not attempting to do a damn thing.
Tumblerseven
Some people say its because hes hardly getting ball. So to those people this game if im not mistaken 59th minute episode. He was 1x1 jack or someone passed the long ball to him he faked he got fouled in a funny manner didint get the foul lost the ball and potential attack. There is no point to passing to him hes going to ground instantly because someone touched him. Edited December 14, 2019 by Tumblerseven
OutByEaster? Posted December 14, 2019 Moderator Share Posted December 14, 2019 There are two problems at the moment for Wesley. Wesley - because he's not playing well, he hasn't adjusted yet and he's very, very raw - he could do with some time out of the spotlight, ideally a loan to the Championship, perhaps some U23 football. Starting in the Premier league and trying to carry a team that are feeling the pressure of the drop zone is way too much to put on those young shoulders, no matter how big they are. Wesley's back up - because there isn't one and that means he has to play. We need a striker in January - on January the 1st ideally. We probably need another one in the summer - and that's if we keep Wesley around.
dubbs
Wesley needs to ask for help if he thinks he needs it.
Graham t
At his age he should be approaching his peak. People on here seem to think he is only 17 years old......
foreveryoung
We need a Darren Bent type to save us. Problem is, they now come we hefty price tags. I personally think they are gonna count on Wez to come good, rather than make another signing.

Does he have strength? For a big bloke he isn't half shrugged off the ball easily. He's honestly embarrassing to watch, and just such a dislikable player. It's not a Villa game without this guy rolling on the ground clutching his face because someone's breathed on the back of his neck.
Graham t
Madness is... doing the same thing time after time and expecting a different result... see Wesley for our current example.....
Tomaszk
It's taken years but someone has come for Bosko Balaban's crown and absolutely booted him off the throne. £22m. Incredible. Can't play football. Fat bloke from the office who comes to 5-a-side, stinks the place out and people wish wouldn't come anymore because no one wants to be on his team. I thought we might be good enough to just about stay up despite him based on early promise. Incorrect. Other teams are picking up bonus points every week. If we don't replace him we're down. What was that story about the agent? Needs looking into. People have made money here, and Villa have been taken to the cleaners.

Thug
I’m no Wesley fan, I’ve made that very clear, but there’s about 7 players today that deserve more criticism than him.

Laughable Chimp
You know I was gonna give some credit to Smith for actually subbing Wesley out for once. Then he goes and shits on it by saying he was forced due to a knock on Wes.
Ingram85
He might be a bit deer but even this guy is better than Wes. At least he knows where the net is. https://mobile.twitter.com/Jacklouisfox/status/1205795798820311040?s=08
DCJonah
When your main focal point is terrible at keeping the ball, helping develop attacks and being a threat it puts immense pressure on the rest of the team. I think this failure could be the one that kills us off. Needs to be rectified ASAP
