O’Kelly used to be a striker and works with the forwards. I agree though, think we could do with someone better or more specialised.

Former strikers? Can’t think of many good ones or those that would be available... Dublin? Angel? Saunders?

Hadn't realised O'Kelly was a striker.  Not sure how good he was though - couldn't find a highlights reel 😉

In any case, he seems to be mostly involved in other things.  Seems to me that putting the ball in the net is a very serious business and merits having a specialist coach. Perhaps Shakespeare's appointment will free up more of O'Kelly's time to concentrate on that area.

If someone can put together a YT vid of RoK on the sidelines, complete with gratuitous music, perhaps a sort of stat pack at the beginning and an arrow pointing to him in each clip, they’d have a friend for life...

If you think about our senior coaches, O’Kelly had never coached at PL level until this year, nor had Smith, and Terry although played at the top level is very new to coaching. I’m really pleased we have an experienced coach in Shakespeare who has done it in the PL and been around for a long while.

Absolutely. His experience he will bring to the table will be valuable.

Probably the next manager of Villa*

*not that I want anything to happen to Smith! Its just something i could see - another Villa fan in charge.

Not sure, he didn't last that long as Leicester manager but deserved more credit for their title win.

I have absolutely no idea who does what on BMH, but I think we look more organised. Last nights match wasn’t super impressive, but we looked organised. The only thing I could put my finger on was that McGinn and Hourihane drifted into the same space and Targett got a bit isolated. Which is also why I wonder if it was just as much a defensive call when Trez switched left.

Could start to see his influence on the team. One point in first half Jack picked up the ball middle of own half, rather than driving forward, he pinged a ball diagonally into the channel for Watkins to run onto. Watkins got there beat a man and fires a shot away. It was very reminiscent of a ball Leicester use for Vardy

That pinged diagonal is lethal when done right. Arguably one of the best teams in the world score a hell of a lot of goals with that exact same ‘long’ ball.

Plenty more of that tonight.

We shouldn't underestimate his role so far.
