League One?

Surely he's good enough already to play Championship football at least.

Why scoff at league 1 it’s men’s football and he’s guaranteed regular playing time, it’s a opportunity to get his name on the score sheet regularly and build confidence

Watched some random stream from Jamaica a few days ago discussing the Bailey transfer, and they clearly saw joining us as a two season stepping stone to finally get a Chelsea move.

If that were to happen (not saying it will but feeling a little cynical right now) then Barry is the homegrown replacement at LF.

Loaning him now and then easing him in to the first XI the following season would have him ready to take over the left side aged 21. Very good move this, imo.

Yep, Ipswich will be aiming to finish in the top 6 in League One. Really good move for him if he can earn a place in the starting XI.

Yep very good move.

A big club too so it'll get him used to dealing with the pressures that come with that.

 Very interesting note this:

And in more detail in his liveblog:

"...given the arrivals of Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings at Villa Park, who have been signed to replace Jack Grealish, Barry's chances in Dean Smith's side would have been limited this season. Therefore, he asked to go out on loan, with several sides in the Championship and League One showing an interest, while German team RB Leipzig even sounded a permanent move."

Going to be fun to watch his development in what sounds like an Ipswich side who are one of the favourites for Promotion.

A workmate of mine is an Ipswich supporter and apparently they've got a new owner and they've been spending big for that level to come up.

Hopefully that means he'll have good quality around him to stay involved. As others have mentioned, Jack went out to a league one team at a similar age and it worked for him.

Grealish was older and went to Notts County in a worse state. Ipswich is a big team in that league and should be aiming top 6 so good for him

Also good that they're a club that get 20k fans every week, him getting used to that. Some of the teams our younger lads are on loan at in lower divisions get 500-1000.

He’s actually played more games from the left, and the way we’re shaping up with Ings and Watkins likely a partnership, I think Emi plays on the right.
