When players have it at a you g age they have it. Watkins and Ings have some fight on their hands next season as this lad seems like he has to get minutes especially off the bench when we need a goal. If he does well loan and scores a bag full of goals there’s no reason to why he can’t push Ings and Watkins, Watkins earned his move to the Premier League based on his goalscoring form in the championship, Archer should be no different. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's a bit far away but there is no reason to hate, we judge each player at the time and looking 7 or 8 months is a long way away and things may change a lot in that time. At the start of next season, we may have sold Watkins or Ings or both or they may both still be here. They both have to prove themselves to Gerrard over the coming 4 or 5 months and also fits into the system now. In the current period, Ollie is falling down on that with a poor last game, so Ings may get his real first chance on his own shortly to see if he can do better. I'm sure Gerrard wont mess around once he has another half a season viewing of them, and if neither of them are up for it then Gerrard will most likely make adjustments in the summer and we may have a new striker in then, with one or both of Watkins and Ings leaving. Already tentative links with Suarez about a summer deal, already links with Ollie leaving so we dont know about the future. For now, we just have to see Ollie and Danny contesting for the sole striker spot, with both needing to step up. Hopefully Archer has a great half a season on loan and hope he can then step up to really challenge whoever the main strikers are next season and if not, that's fine, he may need another loan and then come back further down the line to challenge. May-Z Posted January 29, 2022 Share Posted January 29, 2022 Preston playing poorly and using Archer to go long to. He's struggling with the physicality of Kalas so not getting into the game much.
