Did enough to win. Lost.

Disappointing, but we played well. I won't panic. Yet.

We do need to strengthen in Jan though, absolutely.

Martinez 6 - Not much to do. Should probably have claimed the cross for their first goal

Cash 5 - needs to get up the pitch. Stupid tackle that got him a yellow card.

Konsa 7 - Solid. Our best CB. Should have scored a header from a nice cross.

Mings 5 - Too casual. As always tries to dribble himself out of defence unnecessarily. His role in our zonal marking system is to clear the ball but he fails far too often. Some decent passing.

Targett 5 - Did nothing whatsoever. Beaten in the air by Ogbonna for their first, but that was expected.

Luiz 7 - Looked solid. Did nothing wrong, but not much right either. Good flick to Trez to win the penalty.

McGinn 5.5 - Looked tired and unfit. Looked more lively in the second half but did nothing of note. Should have scored a chance with his right foot.

Hourihane 5 - Lightweight and useless in open play. Put in some good crosses and had a decent shot on target from a free kick. Still, he offers nothing and his set pieces overrated.

Grealish 8 - Nice goal. Everything positive went through him. Tried his best but was visibly frustrated by the shite around him.

Trezeguet 4 - Anonymous first half. Should have scored a tap in. Won a soft penalty which ended up being his last action of the game.

Watkins 5 - Did nothing in the first half. Some nice touches in the second half but missed a penalty which ultimately cost us the game. Almost redeemed himself with a nice finish but VAR f*cked us over yet again.

Traore 5 - put in a nice cross and had a shot on target that was easily saved by Fabianski. Showed for the ball but was often ignored by Cash.

El Ghazi 4 - had two, maybe three touches?

Smith 4 - Not learned from previous mistakes. Zonal marking is not viable with this team. As always, no plan b, not proactive enough with his substitutions.

F*ck VAR - it's killed the game. No point watching anymore.

Typical Villa. Concede 2 goals from 2 shots on target, both because the players forgot to switch on. Then procede to playing well, creating chances, some of them very good, and make sure you miss them.

How many times have we seen this? And how many more times will we be served this script?

Couldn't agree more.

Out of interest, why the poor ref votes, I felt he gave us pretty much everything

19 fouls, one yellow and he didn't even give that one himself. Some of the ones in the last 20 minutes were textbook cynical yellows, yet nothing.

Need to stay focused and determined amid these frustrating losses. I thought we controlled the game and made them look very poor and sloppy. This is a positive. Keep working hard, keep your head up and move on.

When we leak in a goal seconds into each half, the manager must take the bulk of the blame, IMO. Must get the side more focused. That it actually happened in the second half is inexcusable, especially when we were the far better team on the day, despite poor shifts from Cash, Targett, Mings and Trez.

If anything can unite fans of different clubs, it's a hatred of VAR. Games should be boycotted until they scrap it.

Pre-VAR, that goal stands, and West Ham would not raise a finger in protest. So, what has VAR achieved other than to piss EVERYONE OFF?

We could've gone 4th, now we languish at the median. Maybe it's about our level anyway.

Everyone can **** off.
