I found that an odd choice too. Who else take them? Jack?

You would think Jack would be able to stick a penalty away, but what about any of the 3 CM's. Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing, but when you're 2-1 down and you have a glorious opportunity to draw level from the spot, you should try to go with your best penalty taker.

If Watkins is the best we have then we have an issue.

I thought we were the better team, and we did enough to deserve the win.

We need a monster. A basketballer that feels his calling is in football to help us defend against set pieces, instead of our midgets going up against the other team's monsters.

Trez is proving to be consistent, in a bad way. He is like a Pornhub dad, and f***s the sitters.

I heard an interesting stat during the game. Ollie has taken 6 penalties, and missed 4 of them. If that is true, he should never be allowed to put the ball on the spot again. Good player, but penalties are just not his bag.

Ifs, buts and maybes, but I thought Wet Spam were quite lucky.

Was Watkins, who has missed 4 of his last 5 penalties, really the best option to take the penalty?

I always think Luiz would be our best option from the spot. He has the head and ability just to wait until the GK has gone down and roll it into the corner.

Thanks for that picked out all the negatives nicely and managed to ignore anything of a positive nature a very balanced resume of the game. Neutrals reading it would probably expect to see a 5-0 score line.

Let me highlight the positives for you.

Martinez 6 - Not much to do. Should probably have claimed the cross for their first goal

Cash 5 - needs to get up the pitch. Stupid tackle that got him a yellow card.

Konsa 7 - Solid. Our best CB. Should have scored a header from a nice cross.

Mings 5 - Too casual. As always tries to dribble himself out of defence unnecessarily. His role in our zonal marking system is to clear the ball but he fails far too often. Some decent passing.

Targett 5 - Did nothing whatsoever. Beaten in the air by Ogbonna for their first, but that was expected.

Luiz 7 - Looked solid. Did nothing wrong, but not much right either. Good flick to Trez to win the penalty.

McGinn 5.5 - Looked tired and unfit. Looked more lively in the second half but did nothing of note. Should have scored a chance with his right foot.

Hourihane 5 - Lightweight and useless in open play. Put in some good crosses and had a decent shot on target from a free kick. Still, he offers nothing and his set pieces overrated.

Grealish 8 - Nice goal. Everything positive went through him. Tried his best but was visibly frustrated by the shite around him.

Trezeguet 4 - Anonymous first half. Should have scored a tap in. Won a soft penalty which ended up being his last action of the game.

Watkins 5 - Did nothing in the first half. Some nice touches in the second half but missed a penalty which ultimately cost us the game. Almost redeemed himself with a nice finish but VAR f*cked us over yet again.

Traore 5 - put in a nice cross and had a shot on target that was easily saved by Fabianski. Showed for the ball but was often ignored by Cash.

El Ghazi 4 - had two, maybe three touches?

Smith 4 - Not learned from previous mistakes. Zonal marking is not viable with this team. As always, no plan b, not proactive enough with his substitutions.

F*ck VAR - it's killed the game. No point watching anymore.

Quite a few there if you ask me. Might want to clean your rose tinted glasses.

Smith: "One of the staff on the West Ham bench was shouting, calling one of our players a diving cheat. I've had a word with David and he's going to pick it up".

Moyes: "Players are encouraged to throw themselves to the floor. I don't know how many free kicks there were tonight, but it felt like far too many".

Yep, sounds like Moyes is going to pick it up.

19 fouls, one yellow and he didn't even give that one himself. Some of the ones in the last 20 minutes were textbook cynical yellows, yet nothing.

They should definitely have had a few more yellows. No attempt for the ball should always be a booking and I reckon they had at least 8.

Yeah Moyes, just like tin pot dinosaur managers tell their players to go out and "leave one on them" with their tackling. That was how Wesley got injured.

You manage to cover anything remotely positive with a negative in the next sentence and my glasses are anything but rose tinted

Well, the last few minutes certainly saw to that.

He's not wrong though, some of our antics tonight made me very uncomfortable.
