Ollie Watkins

If we had another striker, I'd push him out wide. But all we have is this promising young lad, and Keinan **** Davis. So we basically just have Watkins. It was poor recruitment to leave us without an option on the bench.

I'd have kept Samatta. He was not great, but he wasn't as shit as Keinan **** Davis. He's so shite I can't write his name without putting **** in the middle.

He rarely seems to be in the right place for the crosses and cut backs, I’m sure it’s just a matter of him and the other forwards learning each other’s game.

Sure that was exactly the same with Wes...

He was quiet tonight, maguire man handled him and got away with a lot of physicality

I agree with all of this. Having just Wes for most of last year cost us. This year we’ve repeated the same strategy. I thought letting Samatta go meant we had another experienced striker lined up.

Although it's frustrating that he hasn't bagged a goal you have to remember he's up against a very tough ManU defence. He will be scoring soon. He must be shattered too. Well played Ollie we didnt deserve to lose that.

It's all very well "praising" strikers for "running", "creating chances",  "work" "effort", but frankly you could have a dog do all that for £5 of Pedigree Chum a week.

At some point, you actually have to put the ball in the net, that's the job.  If I was no good at my job, but got the coffee's in a lot, and was always on time, that wouldn't be enough.

Most of Oli's goals have come when we didn't really need them. He doesn't create match winners in games that matter.

Not good enough. Always a fraction of a second behind where he needs to be to create end product.

Thought he looked really tired at the end. Not surprising given he's started every league game and we rarely sub him.

Would give him a rest for Liverpool.

Guy will simply be out on his feet by March/April and you want your top striker fresh for the run in. Think people are in a bit of denial not wanting another forward in as would give  option of us giving him a breather for some of the easier games we'll have from Feb onwards.

They have today

What were the misses? Only one I can remember is header at the end but it came through players and he probably didn't expect Wan Bisakka to miss it given he did that mad clearence to deny AEG.

Yes but a chance is chance - and he had a couple more tonight.  Was potentially always the problem, hes fine when he gets six chances a game and buries 2 - but when he only gets a couple of half chances per game - he can't afford to keep missing them at the rate he is.

I don't blame him at all. We've, for two seasons in a row, put all our eggs in one basket, and as @Genie says, it may cost us again.

He runs his **** arse off, and we have nobody to bring on for him. Of course he's knackered.

I thought he was poor tonight. I also think there are some fairly obvious weaknesses in his game that need to be worked on.

He has a lot of strengths as well don’t get me wrong but he is very raw as I keep saying needs a specialist coach.

Bonkers. That is all.

The one thing I'll add is yes, he's only scored in 3 of the 15 games this season, but anyone with eyes and a sense of sporting integrity can confirm he should have 2 more on that tally. His current goal count doesn't tell the full story.
