That's not exactly what you initially said, but I'll adress it either way. The idea that we would buy what can only be described as bottom quality in Borja so we can make moves in the summer is utterly absurd.

Staying up in this league is everything. If we had money available we'd buy better quality. There's absolutely no chance that's not the case. The board aren't **** enough to gamble the clubs future on a few spesific signings next summer. No chance. Zilch. Zero.

This is not a gamble. Buying a top quality striker in the summer should we stay up is essential. We could get a better striker, but Piatek, and Giroud are quality, but unproven or old and they didn't want to come to us.

But in the summer being in the   premier league  , with Jack and Mings. And billionaire owners we would be a very attractive proposition.

This is the real reason FFP was brought in. Because teams like Man U didn’t like teams like Man City just coming in and out spending them, forcing them into an arms race.

It is to make sure we can’t spend enough to compete with them.

Or maybe it's to stop clubs spending over their means and ending up in administration, ending the life of clubs.

United can sell out a 70 thousand seat stadium every week and sell millions of shirts etc worldwide. They have the revenue to spend, we don't.

according top Sky.

21:01   BASTON CLOSE TO VILLA

The paperwork is complete, there's just the medical to go and Borja Baston will complete his move from Swansea to Aston Villa.

The Spanish striker will effectively join the club as a free agent, as his Swansea contract is up at the end of the season.

If the owners have the means then you are not ‘overspending your means’ are you. It is a way to stop mega rich owners further inflating the market, nothing more.

You argued that we had money but didn't want to spend it cause we would find better options in the summer. That's the very definition of a gamble and there's no chance you are right about it. If I got you wrong fair enough.

I was ALSO arguing that the quality available now was not sufficient to gamble what funds we have on a costly longer term deal. But in the summer should we stay up that money won't be a gamble and the quality available to us is greater. If we go down we can't afford to spend 20 mill now. If we stay up that 20 mill could be 30 that we can afford by virtue of another 150 mill of tv money.

Correct. FFP has nothing to do with helping clubs it is a failed scheme and a stain on football. It needs to be throw in the trash where it belongs. Happily Villa gets around it in the same way any other clubs who have ambition do.

Some mega rich owners levy that spending against the club like the Glazer's or Gillette. So it still **** up the club if the owners decide to stop throwing money at the club.
