Jacob Ramsey

I don't have quite the same hatred towards Barkley as a few seem to do on here but it was definitely the right decision tonight for Ramsey to play.

He slotted in very well again and put in a brilliant shift, a couple balls he played through to El Ghazi were delightful as well.

I'd love to see him starting against a side were you would expect us to dominate a bit more and be on top, possibly Sheffield United?

His biggest problem tonight was sanson made a good cameo

game passed him by on the ball yet off the ball did a lot of good stuff

Want to see him get a chance in a >50% possession game, like Sheffield utd hopefully...

I'm perfectly relaxed about him playing which is the biggest backhanded compliment you can give yo a youngster

Played well, lovely ball for Elgahzi to run onto.

I’ve just remembered that pass, it was perfect. He’s got a good eye for a pass, that one on a plate for Traore at Bristol City is another example of his potential.

When i watch him he does come across a bit like jack of all trades master of none.

He's 19 and starting out and didn't look out of place in arguably our hardest game this season ( Leeds comfortable beat us in the home game ) . If he can improve by 20-30% then he will be a starting  first team player , ahead of any of our other central midfielders, Samson aside.

I'm just asking if he is a specialist in a certain role or attribute, but don't seem like it.

That's not necessarily a bad thing btw.

Just seem like a decent all rounder with no particular strengths or weaknesses.

I'm really impressed with how he takes the ball in. There was a moment in the first half where he took it on the half turn and then drove at the defence before trying to play El Ghazi in. The ball was cut out but it was a good piece of play that shows his confidence and intent.

Played well. Abit light weight at times but that's cause it was a teenager Vs a grown man. Technically very good, full of energy.

Tuesday comes too soon for a youngster for me. I would give Sansen a run out.

I reckon we need to get him on that Jack Grealish/Ronaldo fitness regime. You can tell he has got the stature to fill out as well.

Wasn't terrific but did absolutely nothing wrong either. Has a great engine on him. Could of easily done the full 90 minutes. What's really noticeable is he isn't afraid of the ball at this level. He's not afraid of making a mistake. Physically can handle himself too. All good with this one.

Big strength I would say is he played two passes/through-balls with the sort of weighting I normally associate with Grealish. He’s going to be a fantastic player.

I feel one of the things that stands out is he is a lot stronger and a lot more assertive than previous academy players other than Jack.

Lots of effort and endeavour, with flashes of quality. But I have yet to see enough of him on the ball to be convinced he is cut out for the big show.

That's not to say the potential isn't there,  however I do think some of the proclamations regarding his current ability are a little over the top.

Yep. In order to get a proper feel for him we would have to see him in a game where we are expected to take the game to the opposition.

Perhaps there is a reason he isn't starting these games, yet?

Really enjoyed Ramsey's performance yesterday.

He's currently still raw and it shows in periods of the game where he lacks PL quality and experience, but that will come.

The great thing about him is that he has plenty of confidence and is always available and showing for the ball. His energy was a real benefit to the team, not just to take possession of the ball but to provide the movement that creates space for others.

I think we have a good player on our hands here and he now needs a few more 90 minute appearances for the remainder of the season to prove himself. Hopefully he starts again on Wednesday, it would be great to see him grab his first goal.
