Popular Post ferguson1
It’s shameful that Deano’s job is even being discussed at this moment. We’re four games into a season. Four games! He lost two of his backroom team this summer and may not have even known it was coming. Lost his best player and again, may not have honestly believed it would happen. Had covid and preseason injuries to contend with and ridiculous international schedules. All of which has severely hampered his preparations for each game so far. By all means people can judge him but give him a fair crack of the whip. Judge him after 10 or 15 games surely? Do we hear of any player discontent? Don’t believe so. Just no patience in the world. Everything has to be right now and immediate. He’s doing a very good job and I firmly believe in him. 8

JAMAICAN-VILLAN
What's also sad, is that I genuinely used to take these articles as absolute tripe. However, as I've mentioned multiple times, after rubbishing rumours about Jack, and agreements being in place etc, trolling opposition fans about it and being left to look an idiot, nothing surprises me. Although, it could be someone from the " Football Insider " HQ, looking at the table, and throwing more shite at the wall hoping their initial article last season, where " Nuno was set to take over " might gain some credence. It would be quite bizarre at this stage, that's for sure. I love his response to the question, but wonder why he was asked it? Is there any context aside from that quote? Popular Post villa4europe
In February Football Insider reported that Smith was fighting for his job because the owners thought Hourihane was better than Sanson They come across like bitter noses, not sure how we've pissed on their chips but they constantly write shit about us As for deano and his position if it was true... You can moan that he hasn't got top 6 when you give him a top 6 squad, at the moment we haven't because we're seemingly looking to develop youth and give them a chance because we have a manger willing to give them that chance... If we sacked him and chased immediate success then everything we're doing at academy level would go in the bin, hence why you can safely say that article is utter bollocks and he's going nowhere
Jareth Posted September 14, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted September 14, 2021 I reckon NSWE might be looking at the continuously upward trajectory of Villa under Dean and conclude that he should keep his job.
VillanousOne
This Saturday will be the first time Dean will have a full squad to choose from, all be it a fair few players will lack match sharpness and fitness, but at least they are all available to play a part if needed (except for Davis). I literally have no idea how the likes of Bailey, Buendia, Traore and Ings all fit in to that team. It's exciting to have those options, including Ramsey and even Anwar who has been playing decent football before he was dropped. But even though he will have quality squad to choose from, it will still take time for these players to learn how to play together and for Dean to work out his best eleven. people need to be patient and ignore trash clickbait articles written by subhuman scum

I might be wrong but I think it’s from the interview he did on the podcast with Graham Hunter. If so then it is definitely out of context.

Popular Post dont_do_it_doug.
The tone of this thread is off. When it comes to performances vs results, you should take performances every time. I'm not talking about style or flair or any of that nonsense, but repeatable performances. The result on Saturday was shite, but the performance was exactly the kind we need to produce if we are to continue our development. Why take performances over results? Because performances are a repeatable skill, good performances more often than not will produce good results. By contrast, good results that occur by accident are not repeatable. See Bruce, Steve. Chelsea will know they got away with one. Or at least, they will know the value of a £100m striker. We on the other hand should be excited by the prospect of more of the same. Instead, I'm seeing crap about '4 games to save his job' and bonkers chat about who you would choose if he were to be sacked. The mind boggles, frankly. Saturday can't come soon enough. 13

Woody1000
I can’t believe there is such an obsession now with the football reporting media hounding managers out of jobs. I appreciate a large amount of it is click-bait nonsense rather than anything with an ounce of credibility. I guess like seemingly everything else in this world, it’s just getting more and more toxic by the day.
Wainy316
If it’s Football Insider saying his job is under threat then standby for an imminent 20 years contract.
Made In Aston
I think if we were performing like the first half against Watford week in week out then I'd say get rid. But there were lots of positives from Chelsea with a shrewd tactical plan, effort and desire from players and some steller performances... and we still haven't been able to field our strongest XI by any stretch. If you look at how the likes of Grealish, Ramsey and Konsa have developed under Dean's coaching I'd say we would be very ill advised to change manager at this juncture. KentVillan
I would be really disappointed if Smith got sacked before the end of this season. I'm completely open minded about another manager coming in at some point, but a mid-season sacking while we're building a new team would just be a shame. Really want to see what Smith can do with this new squad. Edit: and obviously, Football Insider is a massive load of shit btw, so I don't think this is going to happen. But just in case Purslow is reading: don't sack Dean Smith. Edited September 14, 2021 by KentVillan
thunderball
Who was that German manager we were linked with last year? Villa Analytics did an overview of him. That was when DS was last under scrutiny.

So far this season, that first half against Watford looks to have been a blip. We've ranged from decent to pretty good in our other games, including the cup.
