Pilchard
I think it's fair to say now that he's another O'Neill success story. There weren't that many individually, so credit where it's due. He looks great as a wide midfielder, he has that little bit more freedom to open up his stride and cut past people. Lambert success story. Yes, this. It's Lambert and his team who have come up with the training schedule to keep him fit, get him in a position where he's comfortable and played a way to suit him.

I like Oneill and will stick up for him on here in the face of some unfair and quite untrue criticism , however I do not think anyone can claim that Delph is an Oneill success story Yes he signed him, but we do not know if he would have got the best out of him, he may have been another Curtis Davies. It is under Paul Lambert that we are seeing this lad play to his potential which is class. It is a Lambert success story, yet another I may add.

The_Steve
Delph's revitalisation is nothing to do with O'Neill. Delph's first full season (well, 24 league games) came under Lambert. He'd only managed 26 league games in the 3 years prior due to injury. Kudos to Lambert for sticking with him and it's paying off greatly.
Philosopher
Haha, Delph being 'linked' to Newcastle, not gonna happen, and certainly not a replacement for Cabaye! http://news.ladbrokes.com/en-gb/football/premier-league/pardew-could-turn-towards-villa-star-as-grenier-deal-collapses_185797.html Oh and can someone remind me how to do short links! Popular Post Big_John_10
If delph had been shit I wonder who would be blamed for it, Lambert or MON? I think both deserve credit, MON spotted the potential and signed him and Lambert's getting the best out of him. I also think the main person who deserves most credit is delph himself. To have major injuries and serious lack of form and not lose the hunger and desire to make it shows the sort of man he is. POTY wrapped up IMO.
Houlston
Agreed Big John, the drive and will to win is exceptional in Delph. But lets give all the credit to Lambert.
dont_do_it_doug.
I was just alluding to the fact he was written off by many as another dud O'Neill signing.
macandally
Was constantly played in the wrong position by manager after manager. He was superb againt Fiorentina, what, 3 years ago then struggled to put a run of games together and when he did it was in the wrong position. Bunnski
Only got 1 year left on his contract in the summer. Think HH said he was on 55k p/w so I'm wondering what kinda wages we will offer him when we look to extend his contract. I'd happily offer him the 55k p/w with a 5 year deal as he is gonna be a big part of our future judging by his performances over the past year. Cizzler
He has really stepped it up this year. I'm really happy for him (and us!) that he's got over those two horrible injuries and is fulfilling his potential. He's now our best midfielder by some distance and if we ever want to compete in the right half of the table again, we need to make sure we extend his contract this summer, regardless of his 'high' wage. He's worth the 55k a week in my opinion. Although that is incredibly easy to say when it's not my money...
Villa87
I have always backed Delph. Thought he came in for some very unfair criticism in the past. A true CM.
The_Lions_Roar
Set to be offered a new contract in the summer. Think I read recently him saying he wants to stay for a long time.
Jarpie
Good, I'd love to see him in Villa in years to come. I think he might be potential captain material in four years or so as he matures, and hopefully loses some of his rashness.
dudevillaisnice
Deserves a new contract, seems to be playing well and as said above Lambert seems to be getting the best out of him.
Ghost
I wonder how much we'll offer him for the new contract, considering HH said he is one of our highest earners.
