jonno_2004
Looked one of the best of a bad bunch on Boxing Day. Bit of an enigma really, seems to be an easy target of criticism too when there have been far worse performances by other players.
Risso
cant tackle, cant run, cant shoot, cant pass forward.....and hes bringing what to the team? Spot on. He's like a far less talented Nigel Reo Coker, if you can imagine such a thing.
TrentVilla Posted December 29, 2012 Moderator Share Posted December 29, 2012 Spot on. He's like a far less talented Nigel Reo Coker, if you can imagine such a thing. And worse than that he is a liability.
dudevillaisnice
Again I don't see what he offers to the team... Why does Lambert keep on persisting with him? Let him go Lambert he isn't good enough.
Dr_Pangloss
He's about as good as Reo-Coker on the ball but no where near as good as Reo-Coker 'off the ball'.
Con
Both Westwood and Delph looked like they were stuck in the middle of a fire-fight. Delph didn't manage a single tackle in the entire game, Swansea had all the possession, passing rings around them. Neither provided much protection for the centre-backs, non-existent in the first half. They're not specialist DMs, we need to buy one quickly. Played a simple game, didn't make any particularly memorable attacking contribution apart from a hooked clearance to the sidelines that Benteke turned into a chance. Got caught in possession early which lead to a chance for Swansea but did not make any glaring errors after that. I don't think Delph had a bad game and should share in the credit for stealing a point.
AVFC-Prideofbrum
I actually thought he played well, did the job he was given, played with maturity, looks for the ball, was good with possession and defensively was good also. Doesn't mean to say he's good enough or whatever but this does now give him a chance in these cup games to get himself a spot or at least put himself in the window! jacketspuds
Delph would be 10 times the player he is if he didn't believe his own hype. I'm not comparing their abilities but you don't see CM's like Carrick and Lampard giving the billy big bollocks attitude yet I always seem to get that impression from Delph. Jimzk5
I don't think its an attitude problem, he comes across as a level headed bloke, its just when we signed him he was tipped to go all the way, England international, the full whack, so what's happend? I don't believe its down to injurys although they have hampered his development and ability to put a run of starts together, but ashley westwood also come from league 1, cost a quarter of the price of delph and already looks like a future villa hero, delph just looks like a red card waiting to happen. He needs to calm his game down because his no good to us if his sat in the stands suspended. We all want you to succeed here fabian, please just show us why we got so excited when we spent £7million on you! PompeyVillan
Another player that hasn't lived up to the hype. Runs around alot, but doesn't ever strike me as the type of player that will unlock teams with his passing ability.

NurembergVillan Posted January 1, 2013 Moderator Share Posted January 1, 2013 When he played for Leeds he was smacking goals in from all over the pitch. Since he scored for us against Brighton a few years ago I don't think he's had a shot.
VillanousOne
he looked ok today, sometimes he drives forward or passes forward and you think 'go on son' but he doesn't seem to have the confidence on the ball he needs to succeed. We have a number of players who might look a lot better if our team were winning rather than conceding all over the shop, we are still utterly spineless. Philosopher
Thought Delph did today. Looked like he was trying make things happen. In the first half everyone apart from him and albrighton seemed afraid of the ball, unfortunately they all made a few silly errors mainly due to not having any decent options. I liked the fact he gave Weimann a bollocking after he got that stupid yellow card, it sorted weimann out who was behaving very petulantly up until then.
