The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread

Can't say I like Southgate and can't help but feel he's had some very good luck - but the way England approach games means Jack is just one specialist part of the team rather than the main man as he has been for us. But his sub appearance against Germany was different, I think GS trusts him now, so I expect we will see a lot more of him.

Yellow cards are wiped after the 2nd Round.  Clean slate for the Quarters.

I thought that but the Telegraph are reporting that Southgate is concerned about players on a yellow. Poor reporting or poor manager? Or both?

they said on the tellybox the other night it's after the quarters they're wiped. Presumably to stop another Gazza situation.

It was the TV that told me! Oh well I guess you should never believe what you hear on TV right kids!

Makes more sense for it to be the Quarters but then 5 games 1 yellow these days its hard to avoid that 2nd!

I heard it from the TV too. Never believe our national broadcaster and you’re on safe ground!

That's got very little to do with what I said though. I agree Grealish should start over Saka, as his crossing and ability on the ball made the difference in the last game when he came on.

But there's about two pages of posts here and countless more in the Euros threads calling Sterling a donkey whereas if Southgate had played Watkins on the wing in the place of Sterling and he'd put in exactly the same performances people would rightly be saying he was undroppable after three goals in four games and talking about him getting the Golden Boot if we go all the way.

The fact Grealish is good doesn't have to mean all the other England players are bad. Both Grealish and Sterling have justified their selections, and hopefully Grealish will be a starter going forwards.

Glad someone said it lol. I feel Sterling has been scapegoated a lot both here and other places and I feel like a big part of is due to how so many people wanted to see Grealish play instead. Kind of like how Mount got stick earlier because people felt like Southgate was overly focused on him over Grealish(even though I'm fairly sure the origin of the meme was completely made up.)

People say Sterling is wasteful but I always think that that's a overrated critique. It doesn't matter how wasteful or inefficient a player is, if his final output is still great in spite of it, it doesn't matter. And Sterling's final output this euros has been far better than any other attacker in the squad bar arguably Jack. I feel like Lyon fans probably said similar about Traore before we bought him.

do city now just get messi as the easier option to jack and revisit in a year if we don't get europe?

they wont get messi

they've got a decent wage structure at city, lots of bonuses and stuff like that, they've got KDB who's obviously well paid but now Aguero has gone they'll be down to around 3 or 4 players in the top 20 highest earners in the PL, what they have is a high paid squad

messi on £1m a week doesn't fit, the only way i see him joining is if he gets paid an appearance fee outside of football to sing karaoke at the owner's birthday party and then accepts £300k a week instead

I am in no way ITK so take this as you want but my manager does actually live on the same road as Grealish in Barnt Green. He just messaged me the following:

It's rubbish about his house being up for sale, he isn't selling even if he gets the move to Manchester. He will rent there as part of the move.

So....yeah. To clarify my boss knows nothing or doesn't care about football so has no agenda, he just said he thought I might care more then he does.

Again not ITK just passing some words on.

Why would you put your house up for sale before a deal has been reached? Hear it a lot, is it even a thing?
