Stats don’t paint the whole picture. I really hope we sign a right winger in the Summer to replace Traore.

It'll probably be a merry-go-round of right wingers every season until we find one that hits the ground running in his first PL season the way this is going.

Popular Post avfc1982am
Zero chance we will replace him this summer. With players leaving and several other positions requiring strengthening and back up, he isn't being replaced anytime soon. He deserves the time to settle and prove his worth instead of the constant calls to replace him already. With similar logic that would have seen Targett offloaded or replaced last summer, due to his lack of first season consistency. I'd rather transfer some of our fans than the players.

No stats don’t paint the whole picture, but the signing hasn’t been a failure by a long shot , Im sure we will sign another forward to compete hopefully one that can play left or right, but we can’t complain to much on Traore’s return this season he’s been frustrating at times yes and been absolutely magical at other times , inconsistent is the word but I can’t see many consistent wingers in the premier league tbh it’s a difficult position
cheltenham_villa
Solid first season. Great in some games, anonymous in others. Should improve next season after more time with the team.

Poor decision making.
YLN
Traore is my favourite Villa player at the moment. He's the closest to a Merson we've had since Merson. Don't @ me

He’s been tracking back though despite what Hinchcliff tells you each game, I agree it doesn’t come naturally to him but there’s been a considerable improvement in his tracking back since beginning of the season , he’s often pressed at the right time such as against Arsenal which resulted in us winning the game, he needs to Improve no doubt but I think he will

He is just so damn casual and lazy on too many occasions.

Lovely first touch and quite a silky player at times but nowhere near good enough for where we want to be. Ive said it before, but the one thing we almost unanimously agree on is the need for a new right winger in the Summer window. This wouldn’t be the case if Traore was performing. He’ll be a squad player next season hopefully.

And definitely need backups for the full backs and Konsa. RW is only the priority after that.
Popular Post May-Z
Quick flick through wingers signed in the PL last summer Willian, Zyech, Lookman, Costa, Harrison, Raphina, Jota, Fraser, Burke, Bale, Dianganna, Robinson Benrahma. I think our signing of Troare stands up well for price and contribution very well when compared to those. However, he's a bit too slight to be a constant threat. He'll beat every player he comes up against once or twice a game, but for the rest of it will be easy to defend against. I love him. He'd be great to watch in the flesh, but I think he needs to make full backs work harder to win the overall battle against him. 4

Popular Post VillanousOne
It's been a long time since i can remember a player who has similar skills to Traore (Grealish aside), maybe Carbone and Merson as some have said. Also this idea that he doesn't track back and is lazy, is utter bollarks. Since he joined he has got better and better at tracking back and covers a great deal of ground. The issue is, he's not a defender or wing back, positionally he needs coaching and to be more disciplined when tracking players. It's similar with Anwar. Even Trez isn't defensively that good, he is just fast and more likely to tackle further up the pitch. Grealish will run with a man, but rarely does he make that many tackles or blocks, nor should he need to. Traore has suffered in games without Grealish and Cash, because Elmo and Barkley are next to useless (at times) in the final third. Also I still think he would be better in a central role because he is so one footed, I would definitely play him in the Barkley role and see how he does. Overall though I think he has done far better than I thought he would, he is a joy to watch, even if he goes missing and can be incredibly frustrating at times. I think he will thrive once we have Grealish, Cash and a few better new players in the team. Edited May 15, 2021 by VillanousOne
Jas10
He’s improving and becoming more disciplined, it will take time. He really has magic in his boots, very entertaining to watch. He bust a gut and did excellently to intercept Pogba on the edge of our box, for example.

He's definitely erratic, but he contributes defensively (quite good in the air as well), and he's one of those players who often makes very difficult things look so simple that he doesn't get any credit for them. His ability to turn both ways at right angles is amazing - think the assist for Watkins in the 3-1 against Fulham is a good example, but he does stuff like that around the box all the time. Also has decent delivery on long crosses and set pieces, and a decent scoring record for a winger. Definitely a flawed player, and we might move him on in 2 or 3 years, but for the time being he's a regular starter in my book, unless we sign someone amazing this summer.
