Agreed but currently there is no sensible sustainable growth.

We're arguably worse than when we started last season. That's not growth.

We shouldn't spend money we can't afford and get bad contracts on the books but there is an in-between, where we improve our squad.

We need to do that so I don't fully agree with the tweet having a dig.

That's not true though

Look at the work they've done off the field restructuring the academy, the coaching set up and getting rid of suso

Then they've bought in some top youth prospects

That is sustainable growth

And we're not worse than last season because the players we bought last summer should all be a little bit better and more experienced this time around, we don't necessarily need 5 new signings if we have more players do what Luiz did

Many of us are biased towards our football club which is understandable however some realism is needed.

We do not share the same stature as Newcastle,Everton, Wolves, Spurs and Southampton when it comes to attracting better quality players.

We are 2- 3 years away from where those teams are, this will be a steady process whether we like it or not.

Interested to see what targets they set DS behind the scenes. Given him Grealish for at least another season, added the domestic ones he wanted like Cash and Watkins and now giving him better players in final third.

Bit more pressure now, bottom 6 placing would feel disappointing now.

Curious about this as well.

Looks like they aren’t here to mess about at all. Great work on the Grealish deal. It’s made the whole PL stand up and take a look

I think they are going to be spending £100m + every summer until that's the single player price if we're just bringing in the one.  Total max out every window.

It was clear from their pointed statement with Lange coming in:

Quote

This past season we were able to navigate a very difficult transition into the Premier League and are happy with the effort to stay up. But we will not be satisfied until we achieve our goal of bringing sustainable success to Aston Villa at the top tier of European football.

i think survival, but safely this season. i don't think the board will be upset or disappointed with a 13th/14th/15th. it's progress.
