Makes the whining even more galling. It's like he sits with Alex Bruce going through twitter and being outraged. Always had good support at every match despite underperforming. Very much down to the credit of the supporters, considering the performances.

Any manager worthy of the title would have got the same, probably more, from a talented guy like Grealish. If Grealish goes, it will not be because our new owners have moved Bruce on.

It would seem our overlords are tying up the Henry deal - then Bruce will get a phone call. I heard at the weekend despite Bruce saying he had a meeting planned for Tuesday - he didn't - he was just hopeful of meeting the new owners in the next few days. Popular Post lapal_fan
I'm indifferent about it all to be honest. Whilst Henry is a relative gamble because of his inexperience, you've had the flip side of that with Bruce, and seemingly for quite a few it wasn't enough. If he goes I will thank him for putting together a likeable team, for the first time in a long time. Full of strong characters, leaders and although the team lacked a certain style, they did figure out how to win games (just 3 games short over last season). Last season to me was fun. It's the first season in a long time we won lots more than we lost. Last season was the first season for me when I could confidently say "we'll beat them today" - not had that for at least 10 years. It wasn't always exciting, it wasn't always brilliant, but we had games (like Wolves, Barnsley) where we destroyed them systematically and then just saw the game out. We had games where we won by moments of brilliance (Snoddy's goal, Jack v Cardiff) and they are sometimes more exciting than the 4-0's. His failure is not beating Fulham, or 3 more games over a season and getting us promoted. We can compare squads to other squads, money spent etc etc but all that is arbitrary to me. Evidently, there were other teams whether through style (Wolves, Fulham) or function (Cardiff) - they bettered us over the season. We made some good signings and a few questionable ones - like all managers. But at least I liked the team. It's been fun, but ultimately frustrating. We've had managers come in and say "we're gonna play good football now" (McLeish LOL), but Villa have never been a great footballing side in my lifetime apart from 6-12 months a piece from Big Ron, Little and Gregory (Gregory's was hardly sexy football though tbh). And where are those managers now? They got sacked because they "under performed". We weren't happy enough with them, so they couldn't have been that great in the end. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter who manages us, if Henry introduces anything resembling "Wenger football", will we be killing teams 3-0 every game? I doubt it. All I can say is Bruce created a team which was solid, dependable, likeable, with more good games then bad. Close, but not close enough. I wish him well, he's treated the club and the fans with upmost respect in his time here in 90% of his interviews - he'll go onto another project and most likely do well. 4
