I know what you’re getting at but that’s a stretch

Which bit is a stretch? That Zaniolo is better than Coutinho today, in 2024 (obviously), or that Zaniolo 'isn't up to it' (debatable, depends what 'it' is I suppose)?

the unfortunate problem is that Coutinho can just not be relied upon, i dont believe he ever finished 90 minutes for villa. A real shame as he had some unbelievable performances in some of his short cameos.

He actually had a pretty consistent run when he first joined, after that first international break between middle of Feb to middle of March he started every game and his minutes were 77, 90, 90 85, 80, 76, 90, 90.

He was never injured under Gerrard.

I guess if you can't have your photo taken at Gas Street Basin, that's a close second.

Contract until 2026. Unless we buy him out or find a deal to offset it we shall see.

He'll go to the MLS I reckon.

Can only be on oan as they won't be paying us his £8.5m book value in a transfer fee and then his wages.

It sounds worse than it is. Wages have been covered for this season and next by the Qatar club. We just have to sell him after that or loan him out again for the remaining 12 months.

Looks like he's been playing quite regularly in Saudi.

Maybe we will get an offer if anyone wants a big name.

His book value is about £8m now and you can subtract whatever loan fee we got from that.

With a bit of luck and a fair wind we might even get a FFP profit and his wages off the books.  Qatar or MLS?

Another year in Saudi won't harm us either.
