Summer transfer window 2021

It's from the transfer round up page on the telegraph website, as well as the Smith Rowe stuff also says that a defensive midfielder is a priorty for us this season...

A defensive midfielder is also seen as a vital position - it is understood that Southampton Oriol Romeu is admired by Villa's recruitment team and coaching staff but the south-coast club will be very reluctant sellers so, at this stage, any deal appears remote.

Smith is also looking to strengthen his backroom team this summer and is targeting a specialist set-piece coach.

Glad to see DM is high priority. Haven’t seen enough of Romeu to comment on him specifically though.

Are you just awesome at cutting and pasting before the paywall kicks in - or are you a mahoosive tory? Either way - please cut and paste the full bit about ESR. Many thanks.

I copied and pasted before the paywall set in.

Villa will make an improved offer for the England under 21 international after identifying the attacking midfielder as a key addition to Dean Smith's squad this summer.

Arsenal rejected a bid worth around £25 million from Villa earlier this month and insist the 20-year old is not for sale.

Smith Rowe is in talks over a new contract with Arsenal and the club remain hopeful of striking an agreement, but Villa believe a potential deal is worth exploring.

Villa have already smashed their transfer record this summer with the £33 million capture of Emi Buendia from Norwich, while former England international Ashley Young joined on a free transfer last week.

Smith Rowe is another top target and it is understood Villa envisage him playing in a front-three alongside Buendia and Ollie Watkins, with captain Jack Grealish operating as a No. 10 behind them.

Too many times last season Smith was frustrated with attacking moves breaking down on the wings or in areas in front of Watkins, so those positions are seen as crucial this summer.

We may as well get in the throw in coach that Liverpool employed for a while too…

Hope we still get a free kick specialist in, I’ve come round to the idea of signing JWP but there are others out there…

Romeu seems like a strange one, is he even that good?

Surely we can do better than Romeu. And buying of Southampton will cost a fortune.

Yeah it strikes me as a strange link… but it’s coming from Percy… so we admire Soton’s midfield basically? 😆

Sounds like we will be signing quite a few players then, gonna be busy in the market and plenty of time left to complete deals. Two signed already, at least another couple to come in but I would expect more…

Purslow trying to trick us all with the old “only a couple of signings” carry on.

That sneaky old goat!
