Indigo
Wouldn't be a huge fan of signing Romeu, good player but I think the level he's playing at is his ceiling and it's not as though he has much scope to improve at his age. I like the general sentiment of the shouts in that Percy article though. One thing about Smith is that I'm always confident with what he feels is needed for improvement, never find myself not in agreement with him (or in this case what he's rumoured - albeit reliably - to believe).
HalfTimePost
We nearly signed Romeu back in the Houllier days. About 5 years before he actually made it. He's the kind of player we're crying out for. But probably 3 years younger

Not being negative but I'm still convinced the guy is a spoofer or perhaps mislead by someone I guess but tweeting straight after about Grealish most fouled last 2 seasons looks like wishful thinking/suggestion article Or he heard about Villa interest in a Southampton player and put that and Jack's statements about wanting a free kick specialist together. That seems completely reasonable tbh.

As I said from the beginning it read like Villa could use a set piece specialist and JWP is the best in the PL. Let's not pretend UK journos aren't under pressure to create clickable content and they must hate our new tight-lipped regime. Why did Preece delete Grealish going nowhere tweet? As some have said probably got a telling off from management

As some have said probably got a telling off from management Preece tweeted out another tweet the following day saying Grealish is going nowhere. He deleted it because the tweet was unprofessional and on father's day (I'm not sure why that matter but apparently it did). So he posted a link to an article and said Jack isn't going anywhere. Or the guy heard about our interest in a Southampton Defensive Midfielder. Often the parties leak but not the individuals. And made 2 and 2 = 5. That's not bad journalism. Sometimes you have to make educated guesses.

I don't think it was so much that it was unprofessional (even though that's what he claims), more that his editor probably got pissed off that he tweeted it out without an article linking back to the Brum Mail for clicks, which I suppose is unprofessional for a journalist.
paul514
Is this Alvarez thing from a reliable source then?
Paulie
I’d be surprised if both Alvarez and ESR came in. Seems like we are hedging our risk a bit.

Saka contract last season allegedly went from 7k to 33k per week. Arsenal are screwed financially debt wise atm hence trying to offload likes of Xhaka on 100k per week
DakotaVilla
Money talks. Offer him a big signing fee and 60k a week with a promise of a new contract next year if he does well and we may have a chance.
rayk
The problem with ESR is we did a job on Arsenal last year with Martinez so with any future transfer they will (a) be more reluctant and (b) demand their pound of flesh in return via an inflated transfer fee. So unless we’re spending Jack’s transfer fee I can’t really see it happening.

Decent enough player though. Given we only have one player currently over 30 in the squad, in would kind of make sense to get another more experienced head in. Not seen much of Romeu since he's been at Southampton, remember him being decent at Chelsea for s short while

During the season it fluctuates between being a pleasant optimistic place after a win and overrun by doom mongers after a loss. God help us when we hit a rough patch of form and people start calling for Deano's head every other post. I'd rather avoid talking about Villa than be bombarded by the excessive negativity around here that creeps in at some point every season. Very good. We all know how the forthcoming season will play out based on the transfers in and out close season. During the season, how we sway from sacking Dean Smith to dreaming of top 6 is just embarrassing.
