Purslow trying to trick us all with the old “only a couple of signings” carry on.

That sneaky old goat!

😆 We’ve been quite discreet and intelligent under this regime. Makes sense, why reveal all to the media when it doesn’t benefit us in any way?

We just need to feed them the occasional line to shut them up for a while…

Love it how we just conduct our business privately and get on with it.

Although, I would believe that we could just make 2-3 signings to go into the first team and upgrade it.

The others to expand the squad and our options from the bench, a few young players to develop and keep involved with the first team. We’ve let a few go so there are gaps that can be filled with some new players but also a couple of our youngsters…

Romeu will be 30 not long into the season and still has a couple of years on his contract so I'd be surprised if we see value in that kind of deal.  Decent enough player though.

Yeah, it surprises me. But maybe by “admire” the meaning is that we are looking for players of the same mould or type… we’re probably not looking to sign him directly.

No mention of JWP from Percy?

I hope we manage to get Sarr, it’s an exciting link…

Hope we still get a free kick specialist in, I’ve come round to the idea of signing JWP but there are others out there…

Alvarez supposed to be good on set pieces. This is shaping up to be the summer many people predicted on the basis Jack bought in to the project last summer. We’re building a Europe capable squad a year prior to qualifying. JWP, Alvarez and ESR puts us in one hell of a good place.

I’m really curious as to which CB we’ll be signing or probably have lined up to replace Engels…

Saliba sounds like a great shout and another player we could make Arsenal regret letting go… would he be interested when he would still not be guaranteed a first team place? He would be more involved with us though, starting in cup games and the odd league game to give Konsa or Mings a rest or cover for injury & suspension…

Can’t think of many… Tuanzebe is an obvious link, Andersen has already been mentioned…

Certainly looks that way, exciting times…

I’m sure it’s going to be a busy window for us. Maybe a few surprises and not necessarily the expected or linked players so far…

@Villan4Life loves Romeu....don't ya mate!!!😆

I actually think he's one of most underrated prem players in that position....people seem to think Ward Prowse plays as the Southampton DM but it was usually Romeu when fit and think he's as good as Hojiberg who was held up as this wonder signing for Spurs last year.

When he got injured just before we play them at end of January they were well up in top half. Barely played for rest of the season and they completely slumped.

Hard to believe he's only 29....pretty sure we were linked with him when Houllier was here and Chelsea signed him.

Alvarez link reminds me of that Uruguyan attacking midfielder we were supposed to be on the verge of signing....then we signed Buendia two days later.

What about Joaquin Correa?  26 and seems Lazio want to cash in on him. 11 goals in each of last two seasons in Serie A and europe.

Talk Arsenal and Spurs looking at him so that would seem a decent shout for top level wide forward we probably still lack.

No mention from anyone bar the original Paul Doyle article other than telephone game references going back to original article. Not being negative but I'm still convinced the guy is a spoofer or perhaps mislead by someone I guess but tweeting straight after about Grealish most fouled last 2 seasons looks like wishful thinking/suggestion article

Whether the link was genuine or not, the appeal of having a specialist set piece taker is huge…

Wasn’t keen on the idea of JWP earlier (don’t think he’s any better or offers much more than our present CMs, plus I think Sanson will be good for us - also the cost to consider) but having that extra weapon in our arsenal (no pun intended 😆) and becoming a danger from set pieces would be amazing.

We’ve never really taken advantage of all the fouls Jack wins, and now we have more skilful attackers too, we don’t carry a threat from corners and I can’t remember the last direct free kick we scored.

He's not kicked a ball in PL for them has he? 2 loans 2 different French teams since that signed him and are we going to sign a player investigated by French Football? Not sure what came of investigation 🤭

If we’re signing a Lazio player, it has to be this guy…

Oh shit, wasn’t aware of the investigation!

Signing a young prospect seems the best way to go though, someone who could eventually succeed Mings and keep our current CB partnership on their toes…

I love this club so much. So very impressed by our owners, manager and staff. For the first time in years we seem to have an actual plan with signings.

🙂

Yes, these are the days we've been dreaming about for years. It feels great to be a club that people around the world are taking a harder look at. Exciting time for Villans!
