I think Jack leaving caught everyone at the club off guard.  I don't think anyone knew Man City was actually going to trigger Jack's release clause, or throw 325k/week for 6 years and the No. 10 shirt at him.  Say what you want about boyhood club, it's hard to turn that down.

The other stuff about Deano and the coaching staff?  I think it's a bit of bollox.  The guy has brought us from mid table in the Championship to mid table in the Premier League in 3 seasons.  We've played some of the best football I've seen in my time as a Villa supporter, but there has been a lot of room for improvement at times.  Deano has also shown humility/introspection and that he can work on changing things when we hit a bad patch of form.  Nothing he has done has suggested that the board is losing faith in him.

Talk about overreactions...  Our preseason was cut short because of COVID, our team has had a lot of injuries and late returns due to the summer football tournaments, so we look disjointed and unfit.  We aren't the only team looking like this right now, though.  Give it until October and if things still appear shambolic, then start panicking.

Nah, I think you’re just bored out of your mind and have let your imagination run wild lol. Funny enough though, my own conspiracy mind starting spinning and I thought “maybe we brought in Ings to try and sway JWP.” 

I personally think all of this is just very unfortunate timing.

With all due respect, his loyalty really wasn’t tested with our interest! We’re not exactly In with a real chance of winning trophies this season.

Villa conditioning eh?  I'm the same but had we won on Saturday the mood on here would have been so different.  3-0 against toon this weekend and it will happy days again.

NSWE are experienced and very driven businessmen. I don't think they would play such a game. The minute they lose full faith in Smith, he'll be out the door. They're not here to play mind games.

I think people need to step back a little bit and not be too disheartened

Ok, we've lost a genuine world class player (who missed 30% of last season), but you can't tell me we are not much much stronger than last year?!

 

We've still got time in this window - I'm still expecting a midfielder, even if its a loan

There is just a bit of a downer because we lost at Watford and have picked up a few niggly injuries. 

Beat Newcastle on Saturday, with Ollie back in the team and Bailey starting and we'll soon be smiling again

Yeah, full respect. Also, it sounds like the BS we were all fed last year when Man Utd wouldn’t meet Villa’s valuation of Macbeth and he signed a new deal.

Yes. But in the case of Aston Villa we have years of promise followed by disappointment to fall back on.

When have our new owners ever disappointed us in the past 3 years?

• They saved us from bankruptcy
• They got us promoted their first season in charge
• They kept us in the Premier League our first season back up
• They continue to pump 100s of millions of pounds into the transfer market season after season
• They tried to match Man City's ridiculous contract salary to Jack

Things are different now...  We had Deadly Doug, who had business sense but not enough money to compete in the Premier League, Randy Lerner, who had money for a bit, but no business sense, and Xia, who had neither.  Now, we have two of the best owners in the Premier League and everyone still assumes the worst.

I dunno if it's Brummies or just this site, but I had to stay away for the end of the relegation season and a lot of the C'ship spell, as it had become the most depressing place on the internet.

Have things improved rapidly with the appointment of Craig Shakespeare so much that the higher echolen s think ...."hmmmm what were the other coaches doing" ????
