A lot of it is said in jest though and to provoke a laugh. Ask a Mancunian about Manchester and they'll wax lyrical about how wonderful it is and how it's the best city in the country. Ask a Brummie about Birmingham and they'll probably chuckle, tell you it's shit and the traffic is terrible. I do hope our new owners are successful but my hopes are influenced by years of failure. Forty years ago we won the league followed by the European Cup and Super Cup (beating Barcelona). I think he is a good player, but not top 4 quality. He is turning 27 later this year, if he was top 4 quality he would have been bought by one of those clubs already. That’s very much a generalisation and not applicable to us all, but we can be, let’s say a bit dead pan to say the least. Scousers are Scousers, self obsessed and think the world revolves around them. Mancs are considerably worse than Scousers, in that they look upon themselves as better than everyone else and nobody is more deluded than a Manc. They constantly claim that their small town in Cheshire is the second city. I got trapped in a pub a few years ago with a Man City fan. I’ve never heard so much drivel in my life. He was convinced that their winning of the old UEFA Cup, an achievement so great that I didn’t realise it had happened, was a bigger deal than us winning the European Cup! I kid you not, believe me I’ve never been so bored in my life, and I was once runner up in the Midlands paint drying watching competition of 1988. Lost to a bloke who trained on listening to Mick Hucknall droning on about how brilliant he was.
