The jury is still out on him, the odd little cameo has shown us that there is real quality in there.

Bugger, I missed that ...... is it on You Tube by chance ?

He got injured its way too soon to start saying trez is better or not. Hasnt even started 3-4 games yet

If he isn't a better player than Trez he's a waste of £19m.

Aston Villa to assess Bertrand Traore fitness

Villa are assessing the fitness of winger Bertrand Traore ahead of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal

The £19million signing was handed his full Premier League debut against Southampton on Sunday but forced off just 29 minutes into the 4-3 defeat with a groin problem.

Boss Dean Smith remains hopeful the injury is not too serious and that the Burkina Faso international will be available for the trip to the Emirates, as Villa aim to get their season back on track after two straight defeats.

Traore has experienced something of a slow start to his Villa career since joining in a big money move from Lyon on the eve of the Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old had been limited to four substitute appearances in the league before seeing his first start curtailed by injury.

But Smith is confident the former Chelsea star will eventually have a big impact at Villa Park.

“Any player that is not playing, I hope is frustrated because they should want to play. He is the same,” said Smith.

“He comes in every day and works hard and has settled really well with the rest of the squad. I expect big things from him.”

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton could make his return to action when Villa under-23s travel to Burnley on Monday. The England international has spent 10 months out with a serious knee injury.

Groins are dodgy as hell. Very rare you tweak that and it’s suddenly alright a few days later....

It really is. I tore off a muscle there in May and first after going to specialists I realised the grade it by severity. Grade one is normally a few weeks. Grade two is a few months and then you got the worse kind, which ofc. I ended up with and they say it’s 6-12 months.

Seems like we have purchased an unfit player. Early days but as yet has contributed little because of his level of fitness.

This isn't true though. He was fit then he got injured in the last game.

I would say his lack of fitness was the reason he got injured. Just my opinion.

I agree that it was a contributing factor. I think the lack of game time he's had over the last 6 months due to Ligue 1 cutting last season short is the main reason for his lack of fitness, not ideal but in the context of the full length of his contract it shouldn't be a big issue.

He'll be 100% up to speed by December and then hopefully show us what he's made of.

I've liked what he's shown in short bursts so far tbh.

Yes, your opinion it is!

On the other hand, he did play full games in the cup without getting injured within 20 minutes. Trezeguet has been keeping him out of the team. And players do get injuries.
