HanoiVillan Posted May 10, 2022 Share Posted May 10, 2022 I've still got misgivings about aspects of Gerrard's management myself, but I don't think giving chances to youth players is a major thing to knock him on at this stage. I would say he gives chances to them at roughly the same rate as Smith, maybe slightly higher actually (although he's had the benefit of coming in slightly further down the road in their progression). Played ok but made some mistakes which can be expected consideing his age and the level of opposition. Gerrard for me is handling him excellently. Saying this is the roadmap for you giving him tasters. If he refuses to sign thats on him not gerrard. He has given youth a chance as shown with timmy and JJ. Of the options available Luiz to 6 was the call to make. He's played countless games there and was playing well at the time. I'm sure Gerrard still wanted to win the game too. If he impacts the game, then we really see that we have a player in our hands, if he doesn't, then maybe he'll realise where he's at in the grand scheme of things. Either way he gets minutes. Just walks around the pitch and occasionally ambles into a position to receive the ball.
