I mean. It's not hard to think of another thing to base our puns on, is it?!

Here's me using 1 brain cell to try... "Fish puns.... how about a different type of animal...... land based animal puns"

There you go! Not bloody hard is it?!

I'll start.

Hopefully we have an otter accepted for Mings this week.

Ta daar.

Get back in your plaice (5th time?).

Mentioned by me, @HeyAnty @Villain4Life @Vive_La_Villa on June 6th (Although credit to Skruff  who first listed him on 3rd June)

As well as Bahoken from SCO Angers being linked yesterday, I imagine we may also see links to their defensive midfielder Baptiste Santamaria too soon. Ranked 19th for Tackles per Game in the Top 5 Leagues this past year. Think I recall a tweet from a few months ago saying we may have been scouting him.

This comes from ManuLonjon, Yahoo France journalist, on twitter within the past hour (google translated):

Aston Villa hot on Baptiste Santamaria (Angers SCO)

Very intrigued by this one personally.

His stats look fairly poor to me apart from tackling.

Now we're getting somewhere!

So in the last 30 minutes there have been reports of a £25m bid for Phillips, interest in Santamaria and an imminent bid for Targett.

I'm guessing Suso and Puslow woke up late today. Probably hanging after the disappointment of Wednesday.

A back five of;

                       Butland

Guilbert       Mings     Webster     Targett

would be pretty good, but could take a while to bed in, since they’ve never played together.

Would you go in for Tierney?

If we had the budget to stretch to what he'd cost for a left back and if he'd come yes. But those are both big if's, and I think Targett is probably more realistic for us this window.

would take even longer seeing as 3 of them aren't even in the same team.

Both mammals.

At the risk of sliding further off topic, it is true... I'm at work at the moment, but at some point, I'll have to google 'whale nipples,' to see what they look like. Just out of curiosity, of course...

Still no transfers... methinks Monday is going to be the day we start to see more traction.
