We have a man who has committed no crime whose actions are (at most) immoral. He's headline news.   That’s at a time when the economy is in ruins, there is a war in Europe etc.

It's the type of people reading that crap that are the issue. I appear to be surrounded by 'them' as well. If it's not the sun it's the dm.

Cyclists, bbc presenters, illegals, e scooters, the French, the Germans. EV's , climate change protestors are all on their list of things to hate.

Gays, transgenders, modern pop music (must admit, they have a point with that one), BLM, socialists, benefit claimants (excluding pensioners, obviously), Muslims, vegans, strikers, academics, feminists... (cont. p94)

Would the Scum have released the same story if he'd been battling cancer or recently paralysed?  No.

These are "real" illnesses and he'd have public sympathy. But he's got depression.  He deserves it.  Depression is just feeling sad.  It's not like he's really ill.  How can he be depressed when he earns all that money?

As a long-term sufferer of depression I can assure you that anyone who has been admitted to hospital is SERIOUSLY ill.  They have an illness that is life threatening.

When will we start taking mental illness seriously?

We all need to treat one another better.

Wonderfully eloquent summary of what is an insane media circus around this story. I'm sorry to hear of your challenges with your mental health: but your experiences give us an important sense of perspective here.

What's really annoying about all this stuff is that the Scum newspaper published a story, with no named person and no actual evidence of wrongdoing....so far, so usual. But all the other media outlets seemed to jump all over it - a story without published foundation and which was the next day denied by the main "victim". It shouldn't have been published at all. Obviously the Sun is a rag and not fit for use as bog roll, but the other outlets? I mean why?

The **** state of the media...

Look at who and what controls and influences the media. As much as we’ve derided the tin-foil hat wearing mob they’re not far off being bang on when it comes to mainstream media - it’s totally corrupt and highly questionable in terms of truth and accuracy.

It’s a truly dangerous time for humanity when ‘the news’ cannot be relied upon to be the actual news.

Have already posted in other football but it does chime with other posts on this page. The guy has been through so much but had to do this interview before the tabloids rinsed him publicly. It stinks but good on him for having the courage to do it.

I've recently discovered "Andys man club" and they're doing amazing work.

A safe space for men to talk, vent or pour out how they're feeling. If you're suffering yourself I highly recommend giving them a Google and seeing if they have a club near you. This is exactly the service that men need and are missing.

I'm having a good **** drink tonight, I'll probably be bad for work tomorrow but **** it, I ain't had a good solo session for absolutely ages so I'm overdue, had to endure a team meal with work today, the company was terrible and the food was average, the few beers I had have given me the taste for it now so I'm going for it.

Anyways, this ain't about me, I found out the other day that a lad I used to play football with years ago killed himself, that's the 5th person (if you include the one that pretty much killed himself via the drink) that I know that has done it, none of them particularly close at the time but I knew them all pretty well over the years, and the thing is, most of them were the most outgoing likeable sociable **** that you could imagine, then you look at me, I fly solo, I live alone, I avoid social interaction and I'm happy as ****, it makes me wonder what goes wrong for them, it really hits hard man, it isn't like I'm sitting here saying "could I have been a better friend" because I haven't know him for **** ages but man, I don't know if I just had a dysfunctional set of pals growing up but that just seems like too many people to have known to go that way.

Sorry to hear this. From my own personal experience a person in this kind of pain will think about it and maybe even plan it for quite a while before they finally act aiding by drinks or drugs.

Maybe the more we can become aware as a society of when a person could be heading down this path the more lives that could be saved.  There’s always help available but unfortunately still a stigma towards asking for it.

I still hear people say he needs to man up or snap out of it. Winds me up.

Not trying to push this on you, but I'd recommend a company called whysup. All over social media, specialising in mental health and addiction.

I attended a meeting with their MD, who really was the man who had it all, humble beginnings, but was so utterly depressed he became such a risk to himself via drink, drugs, and gambling that he was sectioned. He didn't realise he'd got into this state. He was sectioned further times because he thought nobody noticed and he could handle it and neither statement was close to the truth. There's obviously much more to it than this, and after being sectioned further times and nearly losing his life, wife, and family he eventually turned it around.

All of the changes were first mental changes, but he's recognised some of these and shares his journey to positivity, analysing different steps along the way.

You may get something from the videos or not, but it may help. You may in turn share this with somebody you thinks needs some kind of help.

(I do not work for them, just had a really great group session with the MD)

I'm glad I never drink on my own.

I used to do it all the time between relationships. It actually cheered me up getting hammered and I put in some memorable nights on this forum as some might remember (particularly the night I encouraged Livingthelifeofavillan to get himself banned forever 😂😂😂)

I have always preferred drinking on my own, I used to drink to find oblivion, these days I have a few beers on a Friday night but I'll always have one night (like tonight) when I think **** it, lets drink like I'm 20 years old (not 38) its always tinged with sadness, but **** it,I reckon I've got shit under control.

Norwich are pretty much consistently on the right side of things. This is excellent.

I came on to post this video - really powerful stuff and well done to Norwich for using their platform for something like this 🙏🏽
