Fantastic result, everyone was fantastic today. Watkins was unplayable. Gave mom to Buendia as he was absolutely everywhere today. Aggressive and Combative, was a big part of why Newcastle couldn't physically dominate the middle.

Wow. Nobody below an 8/10 and we could do with an "everyone" option for MotM.

I thought Moreno was absolutely sensational down the left and Ramsey was right up there with him.

Young showed all his experience and McGinn is playing in the PL like he used to in the Championship.

Dougie looked like the only £50m Brazilian on the pitch, Dendoncker did exactly what we needed, the two central defenders aren't just defending well - they look comfortable on the ball.

Martinez is one of the top 5 keepers in the world, Watkins is focused on being a striker rather than being everywhere - he can leave that job to Buendia who thrives on it.

Just absolutely superb. What a team. What a manager.

Today was  a near on perfect performance, every single player delivered, perfect tactics, perfect everything. It'll be interesting seeing what we can do after Emery adds new players (hopefully everyone is as quality as Moreno).

It’s funny because the Villa admin on Twitter hasn’t even trolled Newcastle lol. When we lost to them earlier this year the Newcastle twitter team were quick to start winding us up.

Mentioned it in the match thread. Might be harsh but bailey being out helped us a lot. So much more fluid without him in the team. Our play didn't break down.

I'm speechless at how good we were today, the improvement Emery has made is unprecedented in the premier league, isnt it? 

Could easily have been 5-0 today, Howe had no way to change it, they needed to from the first minute they looked lost once their high press failed to panic us into giving away possession. We found the midfield or the full backs  with an out ball that made them vulnerable at the back, we had some great phases of play. 

Are Newcastle that good? I don't think they are tbh, they have just made the most of the poor form of other teams in the top 6. Or maybe we are just a better team? Can't think of one Newcastle player who would make our first 11.

Ps Watkins is unplayable when he's on that form , gave the Newcastle defence a right battering, they looked scared.

I have watched Villa for a very long time and I honestly am struggling to remember a performance as good as this for at least 20 years. You have to go back to the late 70s/early 80s to see such a complete team performance. Possibly one or two moments in the 90s. 
 

Newcastle were comprehensively outplayed in every part of the pitch today. There were so many brilliant performances that I couldn’t do much better than just to list the team sheet. Amazing as well that the starting XI played for 85 minutes before a substitution but why would you want to stop the team playing that way?

Ollie is obviously man of the match - how he has grown in confidence under Emery! - but there were so many excellent performances. Doulas Luiz, Mings, Ramsey, Moreno, Buendia, McGinn, wow… 

Probably worth a special mention for Ashley Young who at 37 skipped around the pitch like a teenager and Dendoncker who slotted into the team so well you would never know he hadn’t been playing there all season.

avoided the match until 2 minutes ago as I was too nervous, going to immediately read the match thread shortly, after having put a beer in the fridge, firstly though
