It's hilarious when you think about it. Popular Post sidcow Posted August 20, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 20, 2022 OK. I've been avoiding these pages for months. I've decided to join the Gerrard out brigade. As with Smith you've got to take into account the end of last season as well as the beginning of this one. I just can't see any positives. I can't lay my hat on any positives at all. If you could see we were close to something I would remain on the fence, but there is just nothing. We look a disorganised mess. Defence looks dodgy as ****, midfield is totally dysfunctional, attack is blunt. There is no identifiable system. We're subject to baffling selection issues. When things are wrong he reacts by changing like player for like player solving none of our issues. Nothing looks like it's about to click for us. Multiple players look a shadow of their former selves. We're SO easy to play against. We are susceptible to conceding on every set piece. We look totally impotent when taking a set piece. We have some really good players but it doesn't look like it whatsoever. McGinn and Ramsey guarantee start and almost always finish every game with little justification of why. In an early interview he said of our facilities they leave no room for excuses. We'll right now we look like an excuse for a football team.
Jas10
The only way he would gain any inkling of respect from me is if he walked now… sick of him and sick of his shit. Why wait to sack him and throw away more points? Why cause more damage? Why destroy the morale, confidence and spirit of these players? Shambles. Many star players also run on instinct alone.
DCJonah
It's a bad trait when the longer you're here the worse the team gets.
Mantis
Just now, daft said: This was a truly atrocious display. I'm at a loss for words really (not really. No solidity in defence, no real ideas going forward and a midfield that keeps getting overrun. They were physically much stronger and footballing wise much better. It's not just Gerrard though, it's the squad as well. There are obviously issues with the squad but it was mostly this same squad which looked largely solid when Gerrard first came in. You could see what we were trying to do there. For whatever reason things have just been downhill since the middle/end of last season. I'm confident that a semi-competent manager would at least be able to get us looking like a mid-table side instead of a relegation one.

Popular Post PieFacE Posted August 20, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted August 20, 2022 Sacking Smith was the right move at the time, but sacking him for this shite is just sad.
CLARETANDBLUEFOXY
It’s ok guys, he will wheel out the old “we lacked quality and that’s on me” bullshit and we go again next week.
sne
Anyone still thinking it will suddenly click and we will transform to a top-10 side fighting for Europe under this guy? It's 9 months now and we are regressing at an impressive rate.
ozvillafan Posted August 20, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted August 20, 2022 75th minute and 3-1 down: Gerrard finally changes the midfield. We look slightly better after that, able to play out and get up the other end - but the game is gone. He's got 7 games to turn it around.

Harry
I think unless there is a Road to Damascus conversion in his managerial abilities this season he will not be getting the Liverpool job! Edited August 20, 2022 by Harry
Nicho
Maybe 1 win in 6 in the next 3 weeks. Im not sure I have faith in Purslow to do the right thing. Gerrard himself doesn’t seem to have the right ideas or a way to change. Using our full backs for width in all of his formations means we are very vulnerable to wingers against them, balls over the top and they have to travel too far to create anything.
