I didn't watch them a lot myself, but did so when we were previously linked to Kamara and then again when we were linked with Morelos. Kent was always someone who played not exactly as an old fashioned winger 'hugging the touchline', but as I say he was a winger in the sense that you'd call players like El Ghazi and Trezeguet wingers, playing on the left cutting on to his right foot.

Aribo, on the other side played more as No.10 type.

The constant links to a centre back make me think Gerrard isn’t happy at the way our current centre halves play with the ball at their feet?

Personally, I would be prioritising an inside forward, a defensive midfielder and a left back as areas we should improve on next, but hey-ho, in the club we trust.

Of course, the links could all be nonsense and we might not be interested in a centre half at all!

Traore would be perfect for a narrow style he’s hardly Ryan Giggs hugging the touchline is he

No you're right, I didn't explain very well. I just don't see him starting over a buendia / ramsey type who are going to cover more ground and offer more defensively.

What his game closely and look how many errors he forced for counter attacks and goals last season

The way Gerrard sets up the midfield with three specialist midfielders rather than trying to play a No.10 as one of the midfield three, means we're less reliant on wingers tracking back, obviously they will still do it to a degree, but now we've got midfielders who also get back and help the fullbacks.

It's not too dissimilar to how Liverpool set up, Mane and Salah don't have to worry too much about tracking back and their fullbacks can play almost in part as wingers, because of how their midfield is set up.

Totally agree. Rangers and Liverpool, in my eye, set up exactly the same. The two wider men of front three would drop into midfield when required to enforce the press but wouldn’t track back as such. The narrow midfield three were always the protection for the defence. The full backs were like wingers for most of game. Just like you never see Liverpool front three taking up the spaces that Robertson and TAA run into. It seemed such a fluid system for Rangers despite them being up against rubbish most weeks. There is no doubt it works if players buy into it. Liverpool’s tactics never change and nobody appears to be able to stop them.

The below is his heatmap for last season, going off that and comparing it to both AEG and Trez whose respective ones find them almost solely around the touchline he certainly tucked in a lot more than your average winger. Albeit that probably is more of his natural game.

Given the way that I think SG seems to want us to play - I would say that what we want in that left sided attacking role is a heat map not too dissimilar to this but maybe 3 or 4 yards further up the pitch and about 5 - 6 yards further infield.

Some Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation regarding Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.

The Sun have reported that new Manchester United interim-manager Ralf Rangnick wants to sign McGinn from Premier League rivals Villa.

United reportedly wanted to sign the 27-year-old in 2019.

Villa wanted £50 million for the midfielder at the time and will want even more now.

Maybe he’s just planning ahead as we’re likely to lose Hause on a free in the summer and Tsuanzebe will return to ManUre leaving us with only Mings and Konsa.
