I know he's retired now, but he actually was very effective at taking throw ins and never really got noted for it. Strange really

What? It was all he was known for and Stoke as a club were synonymous with the long throw in as a result for a good chunk of time.

I’m surprised you manage to miss that.

JWP would be great, but I’d definitely look at Wijnaldum too.

Its being reported that Barca offered him a huge deal only for PSG to double that offer.

If we just double that, maybe triple it, we’d have an ace midfield.

Rory's 18 year old son Liam Delap at Man City is an absolute talent.

Is he going to break his father's heart though and declare for England?

Anyone else worried that the end of the transfer window will be boring?

That’ll be when we help Barcelona out of their financial pickle with a sneaky last day bid for Messi.

With the amount of free kicks jack wins, JWP would be in double figures just on free kick goals.

it's a massive stretch. He's "one of their own" and will see us as their competition for "best of the rest".

As with VVD they'd hold us for at least 60m. Just not going to happen imo.

You can see the logic.  Imagine defenders having to worry about Jack and Buendia turning them inside out AND giving away a freekick to JWP on the edge of the area.

It's an old VT trope. It was pretty funny.

Unlike my post which was just confusing

i would defo take him, we certainly need a free kick specialist!

I hear a certain Argentinian National is a special free kick taker. Maybe we could convince Buendia and Martinez to corner him and whisper sweet nothings in his ear.

Just can’t see this one.
Nothing to do with our ambition, just the cost and club attachment.
He’s their Jack.

Well Buendia was Norwich’s ‘Jack’. Perhaps our transfer strategy is to buy every teams ‘Jack’? 🤔

Thought some of the folk that had previously suggested this in the speculation thread were nutters but fair play to you all if this were to actually happen.

Can't see it being the case mind. He's a good player and to be honest I think I've probably underrated him a bit as he's more of a solid all-round player than I gave him credit for. He'd certainly improve us and massively add a dimension we're lacking but I'd be tremendously surprised were it to happen when you factor in what it'd probably cost relative to his actual worth to us.

Nah Emi was their best player but not really the same as Jack or JWP. There aren't many of them about which is why it's not just the valuation that makes the transfers tough.

Jack, JWP, Kalvin Phillips, Foden, Rashford, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Zaha are the ones that come to mind. Grew up with their clubs, fan favourites, star men or captains. Buendia is a great signing but not the same.

Which is why I think JWP will be a tough one to get over the line. Yes Portsmouth fans but he's been there since he was 7 and we don't offer CL football. Similar to us not getting Phillips

If JWP wants the move, then we will be in a strong position. I know he’s a Saints lad through and through but if he wants to play for England and challenge for Europe then he might push through a move. A 40m deal for a player who wants a to leave could be very attractive to Saints...

Unfortunately, the same can be said for Jack. If he wants to move to City, It does make it harder for us, especially if Man City put a massive bid in.

Buendia wasn't with Norwich since he was 8 years old, came up through their youth system, and is their club captain.  He's their best player, but isn't the heart and soul of their club.
