  1. Club can't charge into the rescue because a young kid isn't being handed chances on a silver platter and isn't taking them when they are offered. Louie has a lot of talent but is in his 4th club (albeit on loan) Having only turned 18 in the summer. He has to go and fight for his place, learn a thing or five, grow & bulk up a bit and start applying his talents. Can't just have (figurative or literal) mummy and daddy charge in and save him, bringing him back home to be sheltered in the Midlands and have an easy ride until a 5th club goes for him in January and try again. A loan is exactly what he needed as decided by the club and player and we can't and shouldn't pull him out until he's given it a good crack.
  2. Agreed but it's pretty normal for the number 2 to be given the cup runs or at least the League Cup
  3. Tough one to call squad wise, which means Dean will go strong as nobody wants to be the guy who turns up to Chelsea starting Bogarde, Chukweumeka and Archer only to find Rudiger, Kante and Lukaku on the opposing team sheet. I'd only be resting Martinez and Konsa (as Axel can't play v United). With Bailey, Ramsey and one of WatkIngs on the bench Steer Cash Tuanzebe Mings Young Luiz Sanson Traore. Buendia. AEG Watkins Bench: Sinisalo, Bogarde, Hause, Chuk (if fit), Nakamba, Bailey, Ings, Archer, Ramsey The other Ramsey coming in to the bench if Chuk isn't fit.
  4. Training with the first team and in contention for the Chelsea game squad. Here you go @VanGaalsOrangeArmy
  5. Seems like he'll be going for it, can't blame him he's unlikely to break through all of Trippier, Trent, Walker, James and Wan-Bissaka. Likes of Tariq Lamptey and Max Aarons 3/4 years younger too. Good luck to him! Hopefully a World Cup appearance or two in it for him next year.
  6. Is that based on opinion or on some inside knowledge? Not having a go, a genuine question, I really rate Dougie. Even when he was in bad form you know he has it and would be our best Midfielder on his day, I'd love to see him realise that potential. If he genuinely loves it here I'd love to see him commit on another 4 or 5 year deal and hopefully we can get to see Post-Lockdown-1 Dougie more regularly
  7. Yeah I agree, that's why I think he'll be sold as it'll be our last chance to get value for him and if he won't sign we'd have to really. Hopefully not though because I agree I think he has a very high ceiling of he can perform consistently
  8. I don't think he'll sign. I think he'll be professional but ultimately move in the summer. Would love to be wrong though
  9. I posted this in the Brad Young thread as it's mostly about him. But its a good interview, gives some insight to why he as a 6yo despite being a Villa fan chose WBA over Villa. Why he left and came back to academy football. More importantly to this thread, also little tid bits about the stats and reasoning the club gave to him about his style of football and Carlisle's. Standard stuff really but nice to see some thought and planning in action.
  10. A great article and interview with Brad Young. Might be written off back of the audio one above as some similar quotes. Long piece for a interview with a kid too.
  11. Perhaps. But two Konsa's wouldn't be as good a pairing as Mings and Konsa imo. Mings is more likely to make a mistake but is also more likely to make a last ditch block (not that Konsa doesn't) and lead the defense and team. An upgrade on Mings with his good attributes is a very expensive player to play alongside Ezri. £40-50m+ £65m+ if they're English.
  12. I'd have thought Konsa in the middle would've made the most sense. Mings was a LB so the LCB makes sense. Whilst Konsa and Axel have both filled in at RB in their careers, Axel has played there the most by far and Konsa is the most experienced CB of the two. Not to mention a better partnership and understanding with Mings. Mings-Konsa-Axel for me
  13. We're fickle, reading the posts from 2 days ago and today!
  14. I hope it comes for JJ. His recent games have been such a big improvement for him and is giving me the feeling it'll come for him. Not convinced he has regular rockets on him though, feel that we'll be waiting for AJ for those
  15. Awful mistake. Decent game otherwise. Good player. Very good Captain. Great man.
  16. I've just been alerted to the existence of a 3rd Ramsey brother. Calling @sir_gary_cahill for our traditional dose of optimism? How great is Cole going to be?
  17. Oh yes so there is, found this on the AVillaFan site, Cole Ramsey, 14. G'warn Mrs Ramsey, absolute hero.
  18. Wait, is there a third Ramsey?
  19. No issue, he just starts to look out of place next season if we achieve our objectives this season. I wouldn't move him on or sell him at all. He's superb value and doesn't let us down. I'm more thinking I'd never see him replacing Mings and worth us having somebody who can push him
  20. We had been telling players not to go for weeks as had the entire Premier League. FIFA told us to shut up and let them go. Paperwork appears to be the issue or even a deliberate mishandling by Brazil, who rather than stop them the day before or morning of the game where line ups could be changed, decided to wait until 11 minutes after kick off to disrupt. It's not the club's fault.
  21. Clubs are not allowed to stop their players playing for their country. FIFA issued an announcement on it literally days before we had to allow them to go. It is Argentina and the players' fault this happened. The players I can understand as they were allegedly told they would not be selected again if they missed it. This is not the club's fault.
  22. Yeah I agree. We should bring in competition for him so that we upgrade on Hause. More born out the fact Axel-Hause looked quite ropey v Barrow at times, I feel like Hause is the one that starts to look out of place in the squad. A young highly rated CB to replace Hause and provide genuine competition to Mings would be ideal. Hause hasn't done badly when called upon either to be fair, but he's never going to challenge Mings, having them both around + a newbie might also allow us to be more fluid positionally and go 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 if that turns out to be best way of getting Ings and Watkins firing together. (For the odd game). I'd never sell Mings though in the next 2 or 3 seasons, so important to the culture of the squad
  23. I did think that too! CB will be an interesting one, by next year we'll have to do something to freshen it up but Mings is captain. Tarkowski is a good free for somebody and would certainly upgrade on Hause. I'm in two minds as to whether Tarkowski would want a starting role and go midtable where there's a gap or whether he'll be happy as a strong backup
