JAMAICAN-VILLAN
With the amount of money we seem to be willing to spend based on links. I wonder if we are actually less worried about fees, and just concerned about getting rid of 4 - 5 relatively high earners to make up for it? Lansbury Samatta Nyland Kalinic Jota etc. How much do we reckon those lot take up in wages? How much could we possibly recoup in fees from those? CMs who can play and are also physically imposing demand a premium - look at someone like Eric Dier, as a player I would argue that he is not better than what we’ve got but (if available) he would cost I would guess around £50m+. If you look at players more in our price range like Billing for example, he would be £20-£25m and is no way better than Luis, SJM or Jack (who I think will move to MF this season). I’d guess that Dean would love a midfielder who is also a unit (And perhaps cover at CB - a young Jedinak) but that may need to wait until next summer With respect.....jack and john are not the player, i was describing....they are midfielders but not CDM's in the specialist sense. transfers are never easy, but we have to find one.....other clubs do it, we have to. Dougie did a decent job there after lockdown, but there will be times during a 38 game season aerial balls will elude him.....but he is all we have got at present. I still think it is naive to think we can out score teams, even with better forwards.....we have to have periods of containment and players who can do that. 'Aston Villa are poised to take their summer spending to £75 million with the captures of Emiliano Martinez and Bertrand Traore....' Telegraph Says after buying Traore we still are after another winger and a striker. So let’s say Rashica plus another striker. I like that! I was starting to think that it would be one or the other after Traore but nice to have another striker.

Still leaves us perhaps light in midfield but not a bad window. Slightly disappointed in the Traoré signing. Think we might see more of Trezeguet than we hoped. Vive_La_Villa
The good thing about the Traoré signing is how it came completely out the blue. Hopefully there could be a few more surprises.

I’m more than happy for the guy who scored three unbelievably crucial goals at the most needed of times last season to be in and around the team/squad.

How do you see Trez playing more with Jack, Traore and I assume Rashica dominating the wider roles then Watkins, another striker and then eventually Wes back more centrally. Seems he would be very limited in chances...more cup and cover for injuries I would’ve thought.

Yeah can see the logic. Personally, as a fan who hasn't seen a lot of Matty Cash play, I'd rather keep Freddy just in case things don't work out with Cash. Though, I'm sure those at the club are better equipped to judge the situation.
