sorry for being sensitive, it just appeared you was having a pop, when I was actually in praise mode.....needless to say a few predictables piled in too. Dean is doing a fine job, but I don't want to go over board as it encourages an opposite reaction....and its inevitable with the unpredictability of fixtures, injuries suspensions, internationals, that challenges will rear their ugly heads. I find it interesting how the criticisms ( and lets be fair, some have had merit) have been addressed. i.e substitutions, last season, gave rise to debate.....and its interesting now, with a bigger squad, that the issue seems to be a dead duck. I am not saying folk was wrong, just that at the time, he had hobsons choice. The thing is....Us fans see things that Dean see's, but evidently it takes him a bit longer to fix.....I guess seeing it, and fixing it, like he has to do requires a bit more time.
  4. Dave, I sit next but one to Carl Chinn, so well versed in all the lingo, my mother was black country too......The one I like is a "Bob Howler" how many folk know what one of them is?....even some brummies struggle, well the young 'uns.

I like the idea of local boys coming through, Birmingham is multicutural anyway, but that strong local connection is the backdrop to our team spirit....The academy is testiment to that. The sprinklings then soon get the vibe.....Players like John Carew in the past, got the vibe and adopted us. It would not surprise me if Leon Bailey, gets the vibe, very quickly. It didn't Take Tyrone Mings long, even though he is English and Danny Ings and Ollie from the same neck of the woods to Ty, seems to be settling very quiclky. I am totally sold on the mix and long may it continue.

I think the manager creates that environment.

so you describe that as a disservice, when I have done nothing but praise him and commented on the sensible growth pattern.....no pleasing some.

with displays like that, the feeling will be mutual. The weighted pass for Cash's goal, was Jack like.

maybe the way we played it yesterday....was perfect.

I don't think we will sell him.

The embracing of Bailey was unbelieveable after his corner......if he doesn't feel welcome at B6 after that, no one ever will. They was all over him, like a rash, I thought they was going to squeeze him....great to see such camaraderie.

I think he is a manager, who is still learning, but more importantly, wants to learn. This is evident in the incremental progress we make....sure there will be dips, but the overall, is steady growth. It is evident Dean wants Villa to grow, with the actions he makes....The rate of growth is also prudently planned. I thought yesterday, was one of his best games in terms of tactical awareness.

I was very pleased with Both Marv and Dougie yesterday...I agree with you. I think we can save oursleves some dough, with those displays.
  14. Arguably Dean's best game for us, I thought tactically he was spot on.

His work, is becoming more and more noticeable....good to see.

We have to sign him up on that form....but more of an 8 for me than a 6.
  17. what a year, one of the most swashbuckling, we have ever had.
  18. I say this respectfully, we now need to take our championship specs off....its no more a first 11, no such thing now. We have to get used to changes and there will be plenty, along the way.
  19. I was there, I thought Everton were tough opposition. but I think that makes Villa's result all the more credible.
  20. for an hour it was....it was a bloody tough game...and Everton are no mugs. The last half hour is a Villa team that discovered their form from games last season.....and the talent just went up a gear. fabulous win under tough circumstances, imo.
  21. I don't think we did start wrong....We started like a team who was playing against an unbeaten team sitting at the top of the league, and us who had to get 3 points to stay in touch, after a tricky start to the season. I think Dean started prudently and aimed to stay in the game, like we did.....there will be more appropriate times to go " Hell bent for Leather".....He managed like a mature Premier League manager IMO He introduced some flamboyancy, when he felt that injection of talent, would reap its maximum benefit.....playing Leon from the start could have nullifed that talent with all the tough encounters to take his edge off. Dean played this game to near perfection for me, because it was arguably not a typical 3-0 game.....it was bloody hard fought, and we need to respect that.
  22. Bravo....I was suitably impressed too....kept the midfield ticking over nicely, not spectacular, just sufficenty efficient....which led to him looking composed on the ball....big plaudits from me. consistency is his only target now.
  23. I think you are right....despite the scoreline, Everton are no mugs, sure they lost and we won......but I think they will still have a decent season and be in the top half of the table. We shouldn't think we can just blow teams away......some of our containment work, was not to be sniffed at and it contributed to the platform of the last half hour. We have to learn to respect the opposition and in doing so, we learn to appreciate the work of our own team more. It was a hard fought game...despite our fabulous scoreline.
