villan-scott Posted October 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted October 10, 2018 “The board welcomes him to the club and is looking forward to working with him and his staff.” This part of the statement from Purslow is interesting. His staff being welcomed too. He has brought his team along. Which is a huge positive.

He is HEAD COACH, not manager! Change of approach, means nothing in the grand scheme of things re: backing.
Brumstopdogs
Hopefully we might take a few more points off Brentford too.
JAMAICAN-VILLAN
Our cheerful Brentford supporting fan has gone quiet since yesterday, and I wondered why
Jareth Posted October 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted October 10, 2018 DS bringing his staff = reason why we deffed off Bruce's staff pronto.

Stockport_Villain
Fantastic appointment and was my first choice. Looking forward to seeing the players get fitter and play his brand of footy. And added bonus is Terry who will insist on that winning mentality. Very Happy.
romavillan Posted October 10, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted October 10, 2018 Right, let's let him and his staff get to work. I don't expect to see us being forced to play it long, or to our full back through lack of movement and ideas by any team that knows how to press the ball anymore. I think this could end up being a very good thing indeed. Awesome that it's a head coach appointment, awesome he's bringing his staff too. The scouting appointments will be key but there's less pressure there as we can't do anything till Jan anyways. Really good stuff that seems to mean we're going to be setting up the club properly at last. The opportunity was there when Lerner took over but no-one had the brains to do it, we're very late on this stuff and we're mid-table in teh wrong division, but **** it, onwards and upwards.

Popular Post Johnnyp
I'm not naive nor childish enough to think we'll rock up against Swansea next weekend playing beautiful football and blow them away. We won't but this is definetely our most progressive appointment in years. He loves his teams having the ball and expects them to know where to be when they don't. This takes time to implement. But he will and i don't feel he'll compromise on how he wants to play the game. Going forward i can't see hutton and jedinak being part of a Dean Smith side but let the man get in the door first eh. Tommo_b
I literally do not know much about Dean Smith or his style, apparently he plays attacking football so that will be refreshing.

Stratvillan
We just need to be patient. We have no defence. Not even clough or pep could create a sound defence with our mish mash of full backs. We need to attack !!!!!!!!!!!!!

MrBlack
Yes Dean, welcome to the club. I've got a good feeling about this. And I haven't had that regarding Villa on at least 15 years. If you can stop us going backwards between now and January, and bolster the defence (the middle of it) in January things will be looking up.
