The strange thing is claiming Sky have an agenda and enjoy us losing. Is that the whole of Sky, just a specific department or is it Scott Minto that has that particular agenda perhaps?

We are that bigger a club we will go to home games and still get good tv viewings. They don't seem to do the same with Leeds and other bigger clubs.

Leeds were on tv more than us last season.  Being on Sky a lot and getting exposure is not a bad thing.

Edit: apart from if it inconveniences supporter attending games but that’s just part and parcel of modern day football.

Sorry just realised you meant away games. It makes a lot more sense to put more away games on tv as a lot of villa fans would be unable to get tickets for the games so would watch on tv. Our away allocation is always sold out.

the only agenda sky has is to maximize their viewing figures. let's be real here.

Exactly this, Man City have a massive away following and SKY have always cashed in with them, when they used to charge to watch certain games it was (mostly) Man City away as they knew the fans would cough up the cash.

There's no conspiracy against us and I personally find it complimentary that they choose to show our games.

It's all about the profit margins/Ad revenue.

Although this is from 2017, might help explain. Showing away games is good for fans who can’t travel/get tickets because of limited allocation etc, but from a FFP point of view (yep sorry to bring that up here) Home games are being broadcast would be more beneficial...

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/championship-tv-money-aston-villa-12969621

Aston Villa have earned just £520,000 from their 16 matches on the box this season.

After the final whistle is blown in Sunday's match with Brighton, Villa will end the campaign having seen 16 of their 46 Championship fixtures chosen for live coverage by the Football League’s partner broadcaster Sky Sports.

While the TV money Villa will receive this season in comparison to recent Premier League campaigns is greatly reduced, the claret and blues are still one of the highest earning clubs in the EFL.

How is the money added up?

Championship clubs are awarded £100,000 for every home game broadcast on Sky, while they are given a £10,000 bonus for away clashes on the box.

I think you are worrying for no reason. I am confident that we will see some loans coming in as we have some gaps in the squad that need filling, and Bruce does like to utilise the loan market. I imagine like all transfers, we are having to wait for the pieces to fall in place for our deals to conclude.

Really hope you’re right. It’s make or break for our season.

Thats a shame!    Wouldn't it make more sense to give both clubs £50k each for being on TV?

I think the Premier League don't differentiate between home and away for the TV appearance places.

I have had a look and I think you are right but look at the difference facilities fees in the Talk$hi+e link

https://www.premierleague.com/news/691073

The League's central revenues are distributed to clubs in the following manner:

- UK broadcast revenues: 50 per cent equally shared; 25 per cent shared based on how often a club’s matches are broadcast in the UK (known as "Facility Fees"); and 25 per cent shared based on where a club finish in the league table (known as "Merit Payments")
- Central Commercial revenues: Equally shared by clubs
- International broadcasting revenues: Equally shared by clubs

How much money each Premier League club earned from TV and their final position

The countrys top 20 teams split a pot of £2.42 BILLION this season

The 2017/18 Premier League earnings have been announced and, despite claiming the title, newly crowned champions Manchester City havent come out on top.

The countrys top 20 teams split a pot of £2.42 BILLION this season, with the biggest clubs earning just under £150m each while the bottom feeders settled for a measly £94m.

How will they cope?

THE FIGURES ARE BROKEN DOWN AS FOLLOWS:

Each club is ranked by the total payment they received a number that is made up of merit money, facility fees, domestic TV, overseas TV and central commercialisation.

Merit money

Merit money is very simple as it is based solely on each clubs finishing position in the league.

Bottom of the table West Brom received £1,931,268 in merit money, while every other club received an extra £1,931,268 for every position higher they finished.

Second bottom Stoke received £3,862,536 (2 x £1,931,268), third bottom Swansea received £5,793,804 (3 x £1,931,268) and so on.

Facility fees

Facility fees are based on how many of each clubs games were selected and aired on live TV.

To even things out, every side gets a guaranteed £12,312,666, even if fewer than ten of their games were chosen for live TV. The rest get an extra £1,129,879 for each game over ten.

For example, Huddersfield had under ten matches on live TV and so collected the £12,312,666, however Manchester United ended up with £32,650,495 as they had an extra 18 matches shown live.

Domestic TV, overseas TV and central commercialisation

These numbers are all equal for each club. All 20 sides receive £34,812,558 for domestic TV income, £40,771,108 for overseas TV income and £4,838,892 for central commercialisation (such as sponsors).

Just having a look at the league table and accessing performances so far (obvious caveat of only a couple of games in), and there is absolutely nothing that scares me.

Boro are weaker than last year.

Swansea are shocking.

Derby always choke.

Stoke will be the same as we were when we came down.

Baggies could be a threat, Gayle will score goals at this level.

And behond that is just rubbish. Apart from Leeds of course, but the gaffer is as mad as a box of frogs could quit tomorrow morning because the canteen is out of sugar puffs.

We are literally a couple of good loans away from becoming favourites imo..

Swansea need to be winning games like Small Heath away if they are going to challenge for promotion. To have managed a goalless draw without getting a shot on target against that rabble and to have been relieved to have taken a point suggests their new manager may soon be under pressure and that they may well end the season outside of the top six.

I believe in the ability of our players to challenge in each and every fixture and come out on top, therefore promotion is a very real prospect.

That's about as much input as I have on this topic for now.

No team is goung to win every game they are expected to. Yes it was a poor result for them but it happens. We didn't win at the sty either.

Swansea will be up there

A mate of mine is a Swansea fan, he is not to sure if they can mount a challenge as they have lost a lot of their best players and not replaced them.

Not a chance we go up under Bruce!

Looks a strong league this year and Bruce with his prehistoric football will be left way behind the pack.

Finish August with four more points and I’ll be fairly happy. I would say six points, but it’s Brentford.

Eleven from a possible fifteen would be a good opening month.

In terms of points, we’re fine. But in terms of fixtures (and circumstances) we dropped two important points today. We aren’t playing well. We are shaky at the back.

We were bad since the beginning of the season. I don’t mind winning with a bad style. But atleast when I know we have choices. You can’t compare us to Middlesbrough nor WBA, let alone Leeds.

We have the easiest fuxtures, its only going to get harder.

Our squad is one of the best (yes we’re short in couple of areas but many teams are).

Actually we need to gain as much points as possible, to be up there during January and see how it goes.

Many teams are still unbeatable (Rovers who just promoted for example). So its not a sign of being good.

Hope things get better. A win against Brentford would make our hopes up again, and would give us the results we were happy to have for the first 4 games.

Consistently playing Jedinak as centre half will seriously damage our chances of going up.

we look shaky at the back with him there and also trying to bed in a new keeper who has already dropped a couple of clangers

Unless this is some master plan by Bruce to get a new defender in on loan, I don’t have a clue why he is persisting with a failing formula.

2 silly points dropped today....
