New Manager Speculation

I want Dean Smith. Very good progressive manager who has done great things at Brentford. Villa is a different beast to Brentford, but I’d take the chance with him. Let him implement what he’s done at Brentford, and use the same style and model here. Give him complete freedom, down to every fine detail. Plus he one of our own.

I went to bid £12 on Fonseca at 15/1 couple mins ago went get my card to bet which was downstairs and went down to 7/1 in 2mins.

Would have made £180 back on that 15/1 if it came off.. wounded.

Speculate to accumulate.

We aren't much a proposition for a top manager right now today. But we have a squad that could romp to the championship title and with a bit more strength, survive in the PL.

Then, we're a better prospect for the career of a manager than Shakhtar, even with their UCL football.

Paulo Fonseca is on Aston Villa's radar - and he has links with Jorge Mendes.

The Portuguese super-agent will play a part in assisting Villa’s search and is sure to put forward a number of potential candidates.

Fonseca is currently at Shakhtar Donetsk and was linked with a move to Everton in the summer before Marco Silva took over.

BirminghamLive understands that the 45-year-old is under consideration as Villa outline their ambitions for a high-profile appointment as their next boss.

Villa want a new man in place before the home game with Swansea on October 20 and will use the forthcoming international break to focus on the search.

It's understood that the pursuit of a new sporting director is also at the finalising stage with Villa hoping to land their man in the next week.

Were Wolves any more of a proposition for a top manager after Lambert had Lambertised them?

For the love of McGrath, when will people realise how betting works?

Bookies do not do lazy guess work. That's why they make vast fortunes from the general public. Odds are mostly dictated by money placed on bets, not by bookies having a wild stab in the dark.

Mostly  ...but initially they come up with list of odds and names calculated by themselves.

A point worth mentioning is that the early front runner rarely gets the job.

Paulo Fonseca makes most sense so far - Mendes as agent - has lots of experience, wants to manage in England, plays sexy football - will be right up Edens and Sawiris' street.

I am basing this on what would the UK's third richest owners want in a manager - also we can afford it, Wolves showed the way on that front.
