Got massive expectations now - regardless of the feeling towards Bruce. Yeah they will be dashed but yer can't help but feel like we have got the ingredients. Cue 5-1 Brizzle. Posted August 25, 2017 Moderator Share Posted August 25, 2017 We still need to sell players in order to meet FFP - I must admit that's come as a surprise to me - it looks like we need to sell Gardner, McCormack and possibly Elphick just to get under the FFP bar. I think promotion is a big ask this season and I think it's unlikely - with the losses we've made in recent years and the drop in parachute payments, next season might be harder still. Win this and we prove to ourselves that we can win away and we have the squad and talent available to be successful this year. With the wages we have contracted ourselves to spend on this summers imports im not surprised we have gone over ffp rules. In fact id say we are above where we were at the end of last season. Its a gamble but so far none of them worry me that its not money well spent. In doing this im a lot more optimistic of promotion than you are though! Onomah is class, signing of the summer potentially. Snodgrass coming in gives us options and experience. 3 quality loan additions. We really should have explored the loan market more last year. Am I right in thinking they changed the penalties for breaching FFP now. I'm pretty sure I read that you will be refused entry into the premier league if you are in the automatic promotion places and if you clinch a playoff spot you get demoted so the 7th place team replaces you. If they gel, if it clicks, if Bruce stops his war of words with fans, it will be great. John Posted August 25, 2017 Share Posted August 25, 2017 A point away tonight against a team that will not lose too many home games this season is an improvement on the 1-3 defeat we got there last season. We made a poor start to this season but have won our last home game and drawn our last away game. Winning every home game and drawing every away game would give us 92 points and likely automatic promotion. At the moment we need to make up 4 points to get up to where we should now be to hit that end of season target. We will not win all our home games and will lose some of our away games during the rest of the season but I think that we may just win more away games than we did last season and enough to get us to that target or at least to enough to make it to the play-off lottery.
