worth every penny of his £800k transfer fee! Him and El Ghazi were great value and just what we needed during that time, goals and assists

Think the Hourihane fee was more than 800k but still a bargain all the same. Thought it was approx £2m or thereabouts?

you might be right actually, either way it was incredible value. I think Sheffield Wednesday wanted him aswell and at the time they had just missed out on promotion in the play off final the previous summer, so we probably did blow them out of the water to get it done. Its funny reading articles back at that time, one of them says we offered the 25 year old a "whopping £28000 per week", which seems incredibly cheap to some of the wages our squad must be on now haha

Think we paid about 5 million for him and Bree and Bree cost more of the two

Always had a soft spot for him, mainly because he comes across as a guy who loves Villa...delighted for him and us.

His left peg was a bit nifty too

One of the players who made the Championship years enjoyable and did his part in keeping us up. Lovely player and really happy he's involved with the club again.

Take this thread back to on topic!

Got a lot of respect for Conor, so happy to see he'll be part of the Villa setup next season. Interesting he's taking it on as a secondary role.

It's fairly normal for a player to do their badges while they are still playing.  Seems that's what's happening here with Conor.  It's win win as far as I can see, he's doing the schoolboy age groups because they train in the evenings anyway so it doesn't mess with his duties at Derby and they get a guy who played at the highest level and is still active.  Hopefully it's as successful as we all want it to be.

Well chuffed for him! That goal against WBA in the play off semi means he has the key to the city as far as I’m concerned!

Loved his goal in the home games vs. Blues in 2018 too.
