Glory hunter, I’ve been doing that since he arrived. Even before that in fact.

Skills
ive refused to visit this thread but have reached a point where i need to vent f*ck the burton game, f*ck the late equaliser v Reading and f*ck the Sheffield game... how can you leave us with 1 recognised CD? you have completely f*cked the transfer window and continue to play players out of position because of this. For this alone you should be shot!
Ghost
First time I've watched a live match this season after paying for the game through AVTV. What a waste . On the opening whistle, we hoofed the ball forward to no-one-in-particular, and I knew that this was going to be a sign of things to come. Lack of coordination between players, zero movement off the ball, completely ineffectual attacks and an extremely fragile defence. After almost 2 years at the helm, there's no semblance of a cohesive unit - a poor reflection on Bruce. He's gotta go surely!? I dearly hope the owners/CEO have a backup plan.
Demitri_C
I can see the excuses for Blackburn now. We only got x players back from international games 24 hours befire so not ideal for us blah blah. What was the excuse this weekend? Or the week before that? Mic09
He has at least 3 games left in him. He wins a single one and that gets him another 2, so I wouldn't expect anything until October IF it does happen.
Lord Willard
I'll be gutted with Villa if they leave him in charge over the international break, where a new manager could of been found and settled into the job

peterms
Steve has been criticised for his comments about telling the players to put their boots on. This criticism is unfair. If you notice, he also said the club needs to sign players with "a bit more legs". But our arrangements for the supply of kit are firmly based on the old paradigm of players with two legs. There is an obvious danger that the arrival of players with more legs will cause a mismatch, so that there aren't enough boots to go around. This wouldn't arise if we had gone the other way, signing players with fewer legs. There might be other issues, like the question of making a pass without falling over. But we're not doing that. In his characteristically succinct manner, Steve was simply highlighting the logistical kit-based challenges of a new approach. So before jumping in, his critics should take a moment to reflect on what he was actually saying, and not be so quick to criticise. 3
baldivisvilla
Time to reshare this article from 2011, good analysis, but the comments are even more enlightening. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2011/nov/30/steve-bruce-sunderland-sacked Quote Unashamedly old school, Bruce believed that motivation was the key to management but the influx of overseas coaches has raised the Premier League's technical bar and despite his relative youth, he has begun to look suspiciously like a man whose era has passed.

No doubt lots of ill informed media pundits will focus on the Tyneside connection as a factor. It had nothing to do with it. the statue outside the Stadium of Light is of one Bob Stokoe. A Northumberland born lad who played for Newcastle but who is forever in our hearts. We were not unreasonable in our expectations. Regularly finishing in 12th to 8th place with the occasional strong cup showing should be more than within reach for a club of our resources and support and occasionally challanging the Villa's and Everton's for 7th should not be unrealistic over time. The real issues for me which I posted on a another thread a few days back were: 1) Frequent fallings out with players who are then moved on before we have sourced a replacement (Danny Collins, Kenwyne Jones, Darren Bent, Gyan). 2) Bizzare tactical decisions such as playing your attacking central midfielder (Vaughan) away to Man U and your defensive midfielder (Cattermole) at home to Fulham and Wigan. 3) Constant changes to the team and system which suggests tactical naivety and poor use of substututions (bringing on players three minutes from time at home when you are drawing in a game you need to win). 4) A hoplessely unbalanced transfer policy that has led in turn to an unbalanced team which is the root of the problem. Last weekend we started with a right back playing at left back and a centre half playing at right back. Neither fullback therefore gets forward effectively and they NEVER, and I mean NEVER overlap the wide players. Add in a wide left player who is a right footed centre forward and therefore cuts in all of the time and we have a team that NEVER (and again I mean NEVER) gets to the byline and pulls the ball back. Instead we just have all of the play compressed to short back passes and passes across the defence with a result that we lack penetration and can't break down teams at home. We have one recognised full back and no recognised left back or wide left player at the club. 5) Both of our primary strikers are support strikers who look to bring other players into the game rather than being 10 to 15 goal a season finishers. Those issues were down to Bruce and whilst he seemed a genuinely nice guy and no sensible fan wants a manager to fail I've seen enough relegations to know that unless Bruce went that's exactly where we were heading.
