Reading all the tweets it seems Bournemouth fans love him. Hopefully it won't be sod's law where we get the washed up "good old chap but trash" with best days long gone.

He is 28.

Excellent signing and exactly what we need a leader who knows what it takes to get out of this division and in a position we are weak in. We need players like him in the spine of our team and this is a great start to our transfer business. More of the same ilk please.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of defender Tommy Elphick from Bournemouth, the Sky Bet Championship club have announced.
The 28-year-old joins for a reported £3.6million fee to become boss Roberto Di Matteo's first signing and has penned a three-year deal at Villa Park.
Villa revealed on their official website that Elphick had completed a medical on Monday after cutting short his honeymoon to make the move to Birmingham.

The Villans have moved quickly after new owner Tony Xia's takeover was officially completed last week following their relegation from the Premier League.
Di Matteo has targeted players with Football League experience with a revamp of the squad needed after they won just three games last season.
The Villa boss said: 'I'm really pleased to bring Tommy to the football Club.
'He is a fantastic player and also a fantastic character which is very important.
'He knows what is required to win promotion to the Premier League from the Championship and that experience will be invaluable.'

Elphick captained Bournemouth to the Championship title last year - after leading them to the Sky Bet League One crown in 2013 - and made 12 appearances last season as they comfortably survived in the top flight.
He spent four years with the Cherries after signing from Brighton in 2012 and played 145 games, scoring six goals.
Xia has previously said he would make between £30million and £40m available for Di Matteo to spend on new players but has since remained tight lipped on any more figures.

Dr Xia said he's set aside £600million for the club, so that leaves £597 million, I reckon that's not leaving him too tight :)

No he said he has deposited £600 million in a uk bank account.

didn't say who it was for or what it was for.

I know, it was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment.

As has been said before; it doesn't matter how rich an owner is, it's how much they're willing to spend that matters. Randy Lerner was a billionaire, but he wasn't willing to spend anything significant.

Welcome to the club Tommy. Hopefully will add some organisation to the back 4 and make us a solid unit for the first time in quite a while.

Ok, what's the catch, why is a Premier League club letting their captain go to a Championship club...or is it a case of Bournmouth being THAT small time?

He was injured for much of the season, and I think when he played there was a feeling he couldn't quite step up to the PL. But by most accounts it seems he's excellent at Championship level, which is where we are and what we need. Bournemouth need PL players.
