With Batshuayi hoping to make an impact at Chelsea it really does feel like he is getting left behind.

I don't think this is a good move for him, but if it is the best he has got then so be it.

Just feels like this will be his level from now on I suspect. Has a touch of the Fowler and Owen moves to Leeds and Newcastle to me. Not often you drop down and come back up, even at a youngish age.

we probably put in a stupid clause that we owe Liverpool 10 million if they dont make a profit on him ;)

Have they actually paid us in full yet?

Every year we say the same, but where will the stupid fees & wages end? It has to burst at some point.

And every year we say the bubble has to burst, but I'm not sure it ever will. People will always pay to watch football on TV so the TV companies will always pay huge amounts of money for the privilege.

It does feel like a strange new era though, the big clubs have always spent heavily of course, but Crystal fecking Palace making bids of £30m just feels wrong (unless you're a Palace fan of course). As this deal puts every PL club in a postion that allows them to compete financially with all but a handful of European clubs, its probably going to become even more surreal when players are turning down moves to the likes of Inter Milan and A Madrid, in favour of Watford or Middlesbrough.

Doesn't look like it is going to be anywhere in the near future unfortunately.

Nowadays £10m is piss all, which is astonishing

Said this earlier, The premier league is going to be a very different place if we are out of it for more than one season. This week alone Palace have bid 31.5mil for batshuayi, they missed out so bid 30 mil + for Benteke, In the meantime while they were waiting round for answers they have paid 13 mil for Andros Townsend & 10 Mil for James Tomkins, Oh & they have also bought Steve Mandanda the marseille ligue 1 goalkeeper of the year & french international just for good measure.

They are also supposedly in for Roberto Pererya from Juve..

This is Crystal Palace, They won 11 games last year & finished on 42 points, 3 places above relegation. So bad that even we managed to beat them.

100 mil+ for simply staying in the league makes spending 50-70 mil on players and another 20 or so on their wages seem like nothing

Palace offering £31.5m for Benteke! :o:blink:

Please tell me we have a sell on clause?

If we do it would probably be a percentage of any profit.

If the Benteke transfer goes through then it really hits home about just how much we have missed the gravy train by.  If £30m fees and £120k a week are now what even lower table Premier League clubs can afford then we need to get back in the big time ASAP because in three or four years then the cost of building a competitive squad will be beyond anybody getting promoted.

Its worse than that Rev, the new money will mean those coming down from the PL will in most instances go back up because they will be on a completely different financial level.

Give it a year or two and the PL will be a closed shop to all but around 23 sides and the rest of the Championship will be treading water.

Or you could make astute signings get a team spirit and not spend a fortune and do a Leicester!?

Money helps don't get me wrong but it's not the be all and end all.

I don t think that will be the case, fees have inflated even more now so your new money goes on the same players on inflated fees. championship is not about how much you spend its about management, squad size and passion.

People have been saying this whole 'it'll just be the same teams going up and down' bit for years. It was actually more true ten or fifteen years ago, when West Brom and SHA were doing that, than it is now. This despite the financial gap between the PL and Championship widening every year.

Lets keep that to ourselves eh, we don't want the other 91 teams getting wind of this

:D
