Exactly.

Biggest mistake that club has made was the day they dumped Bilic out the door.

Was it though? Look at his record over the 12 months prior to his sacking, they struggled to get over the line promotion wise. They had lost a lot of games in the championship.

Allardyce has done better points wise this season than Bilic did, also have to bear in mind that it was Bilic's team and they'd just won promotion so should have had at least some confidence coming into the season, whereas Allardyce took over a team that would have been devoid of confidence.

He's not done a good job so far, but it's understandable why they got rid of Bilic, their bad form under him extends into last season as well, if it wasn't for the fact that Brentford somehow failed to beat either Stoke or Barnsley towards the end of the season they probably wouldn't even be in the premier league now.

Their biggest mistake was thinking they could come up and only spend £25m (or whatever measly amount it was).

Even if they have debts to pay, it surely would have made more sense to pay off some debt, but still spent £50-60m+ to give themselves a fighting chance of survival.

It was imo,

We can't look at his record over 12 months as it expands over two very different leagues, combined with the fact that he was shafted on many occasion by his board.

They did fall away a little bit in their promotion chase but in the end he got the job done on a shoe string and equally it should have shown the board that more investment was needed.

What happened...

They invested very little after they got promoted, sold key players from under the managers nose and then dump him and spend money on 1) Compensation paying him off, 2) Money on an Allardyce golden handshake, 3) The money used in all of this they could have been given to Slav and more to strengthen in January and attempt a decent go of survival.

Okay survival might have equally been a long shot, but they would have went down with a manager who would have been far better equipped with the squad he built to bring them back up, rather than a manager who's just been brought in and signed a load of players that will serve no purpose in their Championship campaign next season and himself probably won't even be at the club himself come May.

A disaster they caused themselves and have only themselves to blame for imo.

They underspent this season, but you could hardly say they were promoted on a shoe string, they were one of the biggest spenders in the championship, and had one of the best squads in that division, on top of the money spent they were also able to loan in players like Pereira, Diangana, and Callum Robinson. Fact of the matter is that results under Bilic had been waning since the beginning of last year, and had got worse since football resumed after lockdown, and that form continued into this season, points wise Bilic did even worse than Allardyce has done this season.

Fat Sam today saying that relegation won’t hurt his credibility. Sorry Sam, but you don’t get to decide that, your reputation exists only in the eyes of others.

If his reputation is for being a relegation saviour, then of course failing to save West Brom will affect it. He’ll be rated a few points lower on the shit dinosaur scale.

He will still live on the shit dinosaur scale though.

He might not get a Southampton next, but he might just get a Fulham or a Norwich or some team like that.

Big Sam will be just fine.

I'm not so sure myself, most clubs now seem to want to follow a head coach role rather than appoint an out and out manager , the Allardyce/bruce/pulis/hughes roundabout is seemingly grinding to a halt.

If he had any future in football it would mean staying at west brom imo, rebuilding them and bringing them back up bit cant see him doing that

Brighton have only lost won more game than us, there are nine teams in the league that have lost more games than them, including Arsenal and Leeds in midtable; their main problem is that they don't win enough games, only the bottom three have won less.
