Popular Post Daweii
Damn that before and after is inspirational.. Anyone that is overweight by a little bit or even by a lot that is hitting the gym, just look at Petrov now. He's in better shape than Gabby.
ferguson1
Not so sure we will really see Stan in a competative again game for us, but would love to have him around the first team squad for sure. A true leader and an inspiration to others. Good on him though for caring about his health and the club.

He would not have to be ready for a "slog of a season" though, are you telling me he is not even worth A place, in a squad, in the championship? For even just presence and motivation, he could even play just cup games ffs.
Jareth
If stan is properly fit and still has the skill, then I say get him in the squad, what a f*ckin leader he would be given what's happened.
V01
Can't see him playing every week, but as a professional head in the squad and on the bench to come on and calm us down when we have a lead late on he'd be worth a space.

Popular Post cyrusr Posted May 29, 2016 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted May 29, 2016 To me he should be signed up as a player/coach role. Even if he can't produce it week in/week out (which is based on how he was 4/5 years ago) to have his attitude/commitment in the changing room would be second to none and was one key thing missing from this season. I'm not sure how can anyone disagree with that? I do really hope RDM is really considering him to be in involved at some level.

Popular Post Dr_Pangloss
The definition of a 'nothing to lose' scenario. If he can come in and contribute then great. If he's not quite up to it on the pitch then he sure as hell has loads to offer both 'off the pitch' and on the training ground. The guy is a leader and has a terrific attitude to the game, he'll be a role model to a lot of the young lads.
Popular Post Zatman
I imagine many a grown man with tears in their eyes if he came on for an appearance at Villa Park. even if was a meaningless cup game
bobzy
I doubt he'd want much money to go with it, either. Seems to be getting fit and wanting to play purely for the love of the game that he's missed. Top bloke.
markavfc40
From what he has said I think Stan wants to play and at 36 he won’t want to be here just to be a positive influence. I would imagine he will have an honest conversation with whoever the manager is and those who analyse the players fitness as to whether or not he is capable of playing a part. If he signs for us it will mean he is deemed fit enough to contribute in terms of game time.
VillaJ100
I still think he could contribute more than say, Joe Cole.

I'd be very happy if Stan can get back to fitness and play a part, however small next season.
