It shocks me facebook and twitter still allow this content to be posted. I mean there have been much worse than that posted, shocking torture stuff. I mean they cannot design algorithms to delete this sort of content within a certain time. Makes you think they want it on there to attract more people.

I don't think an algorithm could detect that to be fair. I do agree with you though that they don't invest enough in content moderation.

I’m not proud of it but I do have a kind of morbid fascination for videos like that.

I wouldn’t say i enjoy them. Far from it. But I watch them

rotten.com back in the day introduced me to some weird shit  that like you say , is just kinda fascinating  ...

To  an extent its no worse than watching the Zapruder  film , you don't exactly enjoy it , you just watch it and kinda go "holy ****"

I wouldn't go all  Nightcrawler over such events , but there is that morbid curiosity / fascination with it , that would almost compel me watch "some" situations

I have no curiosity. If someone sent me shit like that I would question our friendship. I live a sheltered existence with regards videos that I know I will never want to see, I don’t go looking for them and they don’t find me.

Kinda related, but I’m find more and more videos popup on Facebook that are heavy gore, murder, violent or pornographic these last few weeks. Have they furloughed the censorship team?

It’s strange isn’t it, the morbid curiosity that draws you towards clicking a video to watch something horrible. I’ve seen some nasty videos that make me feel sick (bad accidents, executions, deaths etc) and although I never go looking for them. If I see one online I’m always tempted to have a look. It’s not that I enjoy seeing these things and I’m not a psychopath, it’s just a curious urge to see something strange. Weird eh.

/r/watchpeopledie was one of the first subreddits of the day I'd look at when it was still around. Some utterly fascinating stuff on there. The Indian Train videos were ones I deemed 'safe', and would watch every time, from the point of view that it showed just how resilient the human body can be - at least in the short term! People who had been hit by a train and had very much been 'sliced' in half, but were alive. Some of the more infamous stuff on there I did have the misfortune of seeing - 'funky town' for example. I was a little more cautious with anything that appeared to relate to the cartel after that. Although I did regret seeing one in a South American Prison, where it's dark, there's some flame, sounds like there's a riot going on. A prisoner has something...melted on to him. Metal, maybe. Then he's murdered by two other inmates. It's the closest thing to hell on Earth I've ever seen.

Industrial accidents also fascinated me - well, still continue to. A bit of /r/catastrophicfailure still fills the void to a point, but some of those videos from really tight confines, like oil rigs, really stick in my mind. The force of those machines is incredible versus the human body. I'll concede it's an obscene thing to say, but one I watched over and over again was in a factory with a huge printing press, or something like that. A guy goes through it. I couldn't say he was 'vaporised', but yeah, it's a puddle that comes out the other end.

And then there's the general 'accident' stuff. Watching this kind of thing has certainly made me a much more careful person in a lot of ways.

To be honest again I’d be the same. Even though I have a fascination with it, I would have the mental capacity to know that sending those videos to someone is weird.

So if someone sent them to me I’d still be like “why the **** are you sending me this?”

Haha, thing is, you watch a normal video on your news feed, then if you flick up on the phone it seems to give some more “exotic” videos which you watch and so on and so on :D . The query was really about the censorship at Facebook, it seems to have been abandoned in recent times.

At least yours is somewhat interesting, if I see another advert for some wanky epoxy-woodcraft creation I'll tear my eyeballs out.  I can barely build a lego set, why does it think I need to see 1000 videos of someone making a credenza out of crayons?

Today there was a Brazil carnival float full of naked ladies with some patterns painted on their bodies, then next was a video of an online/zoom aerobics class with lots of people partaking including 2 separate windows with naked middle aged men “enjoying” watching. There was also some woodwork videos, and Indian technology which doesn’t seem to include India or any technology.

It's @mottaloo I'm on about, get him

I remember early doors thinking starting a midweek fixtures thread would be ok in other football. Cue a barrage of unhappy 'youre not Keenan' type posts.

Basically, i feel your pain brother.

I had a similar moment where I let out an incredibly loud and drawn out yawn, thinking I was muted during a "motivational" speech.

A few seconds silence, an awkward continuation of the speech, and a few messages from colleagues pissing themselves.

I usually go with "I just really don't want to do that", but it might be why I don't get invited to many things.
