Bailey has been lively. The problem is we're struggling to get the ball out of defense. When we do the central midfield are struggling to get out of our half.

Oh, thank god for that. It's good of him, given he's being paid millions to just stand there.

Hoping it don't turn into a Wet Spam season. European Cup, just struggle in the league.

Cup win and top half finish is a definite possibility though and wouldn't be a bad season at all.

Would love top 4 but it's games like this that show we're not quite there. Ideally we get top 6 and a cup win, but one or the other would still be a successful season. No way are we battling relegation - that's just not going to happen.

Emery does have an awful record against Klopp.

Seems the goofy idiot has Emery's number for whatever reason.

Particularly when he keeps playing a high line against him.

Said before the season started the high line would crucify Villa against the better teams.

Liverpool just much more aggressive than us, winning most first and second balls, particularly in midfield, Kamara needs to be stronger.

We should be on the scoreboard, two good opportunities fluffed. Praying it’s ‘just’ a muscle injury for Diego and not a recurrence of his major injury.

We aren't getting battered. We conceded an unlucky first, the 2nd is a bad goal to concede. But we've had 3 or 4 solid opportunities to equalise. Saying we've been battered isn't accurate.

Liverpool could have scored more. We are getting battered.

Watkins off.
Pau off.
Kamara off.

need duran tearing around, ruffling their back line.

Pau, so far for me is no where near physical enough. extremely naive. Needs to get the basics right before trying his floozy tricks.

teilemans to replace kamara, who is the biggest Jekyll & Hyde of them all. Either borderline world class, or like today, absolutely redundant.

As fans we really need to stop getting carried away. We’ve improved yes, but so has every single other team. Infact more in most cases. Every single time we come up against anyone half decent we are really, really questionable

Are we unlucky with injuries or do we have loads of injury prone players?

Rotten luck.

Diego’s injury record was great before we signed him, Ty had been rarely injured for us, Emi too…

We’ve had a really challenging start, major blows…

But I have faith in Unai and

yes

these players too

Don’t see the point in shitting on them

Or calling for new players who need time to settle and barely played to be immediately sold somehow 🤦‍♂️

Same old story. Persisting with the high line when its ***** obvious Torres especially cannot play it. Like N’castle, L’pool have found us out. That said, if we can get one back in the 2nd, I think we could still get a draw. Liverpool are just as dodgy at the back.

Their gameplan is obvious...  Digne can't get forward because Liverpool are overloading our left side of the pitch with an extra man, forcing Digne to stay back and man mark so we don't get completely ripped apart with a long ball into the channel.  It's no coincidence 2 of our 3 chances came from the rare times he's actually been able to venture forward.  I'm sure Emery will have a solution for this at halftime, but it's a shame that we're 2-0 down already to some BS goals.  Some of the overreactions here are unneeded, but it wouldn't be a VT match thread without them.  With that injury to Carlos, we now have 5 players out who could arguably be starting today if they were fit.  Relax, it's going to be a long season.  Plenty of time to iron issues out and get better once people get healthy again.

This. Both the teams we’ve beat will comfortably go down.

We look shocking against quality opposition. The way Brighton handled Toon yesterday makes me very worried.
